does anyone have gutted cats? or gutted precats? my budd with an S4 just gutted his precats(downpipes) and his gains are unbelievable. i know the G and the S are too different animals due to the turbo, etc, but id still like to know its effects on our G's.

Just like you have a friend that did it, I've heard of people doing that all over the net. But I can't really recall any one doing it to a G or Z. I dunno, test pipe's can be had cheap.

I have the oem cat's off my car, I'll look at them for you tomarrow with a eye on gutting them. ( I'm of course running high flow cat's, but I'm keeping the oem cat's on purpose, just in case).

i see. and what exactly are test pipes? what part of the exhaust system does it replace?

test pipes i guess are just straigt pipes that replace the cats entirely....big problem with those are they are loud and your exhaust will smell bad

so i assume they wont pass smog then?
has anyone actually had them or seen them installed on a car? is it really that bad?
and is the sound thaat much louder?
and finally, how are the gains?

My buddy has them. Yeah, they are loud and yeah you can smell gas in the car when you get on it.

I'm considering the Kinetix high flow cats--but test pipes aren't for me.
