Re: RANDOM TECH. CATS

Cats first or exhaust first? Hmmm...I'd want to do both, but I'd say do the cats first. Kinetix Racing has them for $389 and they even look just like the stock units.

Re: RANDOM TECH. CATS

Does the R/T cats on the G create a sound similar to this clip? (dunno how to linkify)

http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...2/fa7b51a7.mpg

(borrowing this clip from a Z guy without permission my apologies if it's yours)

I realize that it's a Z and we're talking about Gs here... but from what I've heard and what I can tell, they sound pretty similar.

Re: RANDOM TECH. CATS

Right after the Headers

That's why most of the exhausts are called "Cat-Back" exhausts. Everything from the Catalytic Converter back is changed.

Re: RANDOM TECH. CATS

Any raspyness?

I'm getting my RT's installed this weekend. I'll make a vid for comparsion before/after if they sound good. Otherwise, off they go! I don't think there should be a problem though.

Re: RANDOM TECH. CATS

Will the RT cats and Borla or Stillen Cat back bolt right to the factory headers back?
I am not sure if I am going with Greddy TT or ATI SC later this year, but I would like to open up the exhaust. So to keep from wasting money on headers until I decide if it is a TT or SC, will the RT cats and borla exhaust fit right up with the factory set up?

Re: RANDOM TECH. CATS

Yes, they'll bolt up to the coupe. RT says they don't know about fitment on the sedan, but i'd guess they'd fit just the same on either car.

Re: RANDOM TECH. CATS

As someone who has these cats - let me say the following.

Some modification to the double wall IS necessary. With an impact cutter, you need to make an X-type incision on the double wall near the kick plate (facing the cats). Once an x-incision is made, you hammer in the double wall (that is not there on the Z - not sure about the coupe) to make room. Otherwise, the cats WILL hit the wall. This goes for the Crawford cats (and I would think the Kinetix cats) as well.

I frankly don't care, as you will NEVER see that side of the body and it is NOT a structural part.

Re: RANDOM TECH. CATS

that's good info to know. We have an order of RT cats on the way right now, and I was going to test them on the G's and FX's once we got them in, to check fitment, but know I know what to expect.

Thanks!
