RANDOM TECH. CATS

Does anyone here have Random technology cats installed on their G35? I'm looking into get them but i'm worried about the noise level since they remove the pre-cats. I have a cat-back exhuast currently but I want more power. Just want to get a before and after comparison. Thanks for the help. If there's a big sound difference. I''' look into different mods.

I'm in the same boat. I've emailed a few people on the topic, and they said that with either the stock exhaust or the Borla, you can barely tell that it is louder. The Nismo and Injen seem to add more noise/sound to the mix. Not sure if anyone has done the cats with a Stillen.

All have told me that it adds a noticeable amount of power to the car--from 3000 RPM upward--usually more that the cat back exhaust did by itself.

Gurgen has RT Cats and the Stillen Exhaust on his Sedan. He said it's pretty loud. I hope to hear it some day.

Will these new cats fail emissions? I live in cali so they're very strict about that. Thanks

Re: RANDOM TECH. CATS

Technial they should pass smog, since the do have the filter/honeycomb. They just remove the pre-cat. So you do have a cat just minus the pre-cat and more power.

Re: RANDOM TECH. CATS

i have them on my 6mt coupe.

MY OPINION:

much louder and resonances at certain rpms

i did not like the extra noise at first but now i am used to it and the car sounds mean - definitely says get out of my way

you will pick up a few ponies.

if you are into the luxury aspect of the car these are probably not for you

if you are into the preformance aspect of the car get them and love them.

Do you have any other exhaust mods besides the cats?

Re: RANDOM TECH. CATS

I do have RT cats in combo with my Stillen catback exhaust. it is louder than the stillne by itslef, and it is even intrusive in normal driving. But, the car sounds INCREDIBLY MEAN. I am echoing what johnathan said above - definitely "get out of my way" kind of sound.

Ya know what's weird though, when you took off from the meet, your system sounded rather passive, different but rather silent from my listening post from the rear. Same listening spot, the coupe's were all much deeper in note. When the other car at the meet (jezz I stink with names wanna say Gmoney) that has stillen true dual took off his system sounded louder and deeper, go figure.

Re: RANDOM TECH. CATS

I've heard 9-15 HP (wheels) on the RT CATS. Can anyone elaborate? Also.. Wanted to know which would be a better mod (performance wise).. the Nismo Weldina Exhaust or the RT Cats? Thanks !

Re: RANDOM TECH. CATS

Is the Nismo Weldina exhaust the same as the one for sale from Performance Nissan for $900? On Intense Motorsports, it's listed for $1700.

According to the many, many dynos I have seen high flow cats should net you no more than 4-8 whp.

Re: RANDOM TECH. CATS

I've seen 6-12 HP and lb-ft torque increases, throughout most of the RPM range. It's nice that it offers more than just peak power.
