Sound diff between testpipe and hfc cat along with smell?
I use to own an evo with a big turbo and 750injectors along with a straightpipe exhaust and at times the smell would get to me..... my questions is how bad is the gas smell with test pipes on a g isnt even noticeable? I currently have the fast intentions exhaust and its just way to quiet for me on the stock cats... ive researched some and havent really been able to anwser my question
From what I understand, unless u r boosted, the Tp's will oonly give you a few more ponies than good quality metallic core HFC's, but u will likely smell unburnt gas fumes that sneak into the cabin.
The Tp's will definetly create more of rasp than HFC's (most do not desire a raspy exhaust note).
So if u r NA, I recommend a quality set of HFC's. I like my power enterprise's (but expensive)--The F/I and Crawford's seem to be the most popular.

the high flow cats will really open it up for you. search extreme4377 for sound clips of the FI catback + FI cats.
you'll still get that unburnt gas smell with test pipes on this car.
