Crawford v5Plenum
Re: Crawford v5Plenum
In terms of LSD I don't recall anyone suggesting they put that huge logo of theirs in the middle of the plenum. Manufacturers and marketers spend millions every year on having consumers come in and give a product critique. It was from these forums that prompted Crawford to revise their product.

Essentially it is important that we put all our opinions on line, about our likes and especially the dislikes. This will give everyone a new perspective or the companies a better understanding of what the consumers want.
It's better to post the little tid-bits rather than keep it balled up inside otherwise producers may lose their potential market gain and we as consumers would find that options are very limited...

IMO, Crawford has been listening, and listening well. Some people didn't like the looks of the original, so with the second version they cleaned it up a little. With the v5, it's absolutly stunning. I will run the new one with no engine cover. Also, for 20 bucks extra, you can have it in your choice of colors. Also, in the last version, some didn't like the slight ticking (like a diesel engine) sound (It never bothered me, because it was so soft). But anyway, they fixed that. The new one has the same power characteristics as the old one, looks much better, sounds better and is cheaper. How can you say they aren't listening to us? The only item they have refused to cave on is the STB. They know the stock STB would hamper the flow on their plenum design. So, they make there own designed STB for the "Z". Better designed than the Nissan one, and only $200.00. IMO, they listened, and they listened good.

Sorry for the uninformed question but....what is STB?
On a different matter, is CrawfordCars a sponsor on this site? If not - they should be. More the better.

STB is a strut tower brace. The nisan 350Z has one, we don't....

I've never heard to it refered to as a STB. Thanks for the info. I installed strut braces on my 330 and it made a world of difference. Cornering @ speed was much better - no body roll. I can't believe no one makes one for our car.
Re: Crawford v5Plenum
No one makes one because there is little or no room to run it across the top of the engine. Same problem they have with the 350Z. Look at a G35 engine at try to figure out where you would put your strut tower bar?
Second note, I bought the Crawford Plenum a VERY SHORT time ago and it hacks me off that now there is an upgrade but I am suspposed to pay an additonal $195.00 to get it. Not real great way to treat customers.

Fitment of the engine cover with the plenum is a very tight fit indeed. Several have tried it. The front of the cover is raised about an inch. You have to extend the oil fill tube and it will rub (very lightly, but noticeable) on the hood liner. You need longer bolts in the front as well. Bototm line is it can be done.
