I love to get the new Crawford v5Plenum but like most of the owner out there that would get it only the cover can be put on? So, everyone please pull your connection and see if we can get a carbon fiber engine cover for the Crawford v5Plenum. Full cover or half cover(exposing the Crawford v5Plenum). Let get this rolling~~~~~

Is there really any interest in getting a CF engine cover? If so, I have a buddy who is anxious to do some more work - he just hasn't had anything to design that was worthwhile. So, what would yo guys like more - half or full? How much would you be willing to pay? Or, is anyone even interested at all?

I modified the stock cover to fit the Crawford v5. I think it looks pretty good. Your opinions?

I would be interested. I personally wouldn't but either the crawford or kinetix with out an engine cover.

 

If your going to install the oem engine cover on top of the Crawford pleneum, first figure out how you will prevent it from damaging the power coat finish. Also you'll have to cut a small portion of the engine cover off, it's the edge near the oil fill cap as that is the spot that will rub on the underhood engine mat and leave a permenant mark.

Here's a pic of the finish damage to the powercoat finish, also note the black marks near the front edge, scratch's down to the metal.

Notice what looks like a dirty area above the oil fill hole, that's where you need to cut to prevent the rubbing on the underhood mat.

I also found from my v4 installation, that my powder coat bubbled under the cover from the heat. IMO, it's not a good idea to put the engine cover over the plenum. Mine rubbed in different spots than yours did. Therefore I don't think it's consistent.
Again, IMO, the engine cover over the Crawford looked kind of funky, because it just doesn't sit right.

Gurgenpb, I took those pics when I was doing my G35 strut tower bar install study, the Crawford bar isn't actually mounted on the car, it's just sitting they. Here's the thread that tell's all about it, some pretty good reason's why no G35 has one installed.

I'm interest in it. I love the full cover but now with V5 Plenum in mind. So, a half cover that can acomendate the V5 Plenum will be perfect for me. I would think a price between $150 to $250 will be a reasonable price for a carbon fiber engine cover.

Make it exactly like the stock cover and folks can cut it down if they like. I have my stock engine cover over the Crawford. I modified the mounts and put felt on the spots that rub. No problems so far.

I would love a full sixe CF cover!

M500, no it would not, I tried to see if I could get away without cutting it, looked terrible, it does not have the same shape's as the Infinti cover when it come's to the crawford pleneum, it would have to be cut. A large notch at the top with some material around the sides next to the pleneum. Don't know how easy carbon fiber is to cut or if it takes to cutting.

- Looking at your pics of the V5 with 350z cover and comparing it with the Kinetix install on 350z. Per my eye balling the Kinetix Plenum actually too the fitment of the 350z cover in mind when forming the outer shape of it. Again per my eye balling it looks like If I go with kinetix with 350z CF cover on my G Sedan its should fit like a charm. http://home.earthlink.net/~clonewolf/plenum.htm
