I took the resonator off of my stock air box and didn't notice a big difference in noise. I then took off the resonator directly underneath the box (it is held on by four clips) and when I floor it the engine sounds mean. This is a good option for people like me too cheap to buy an aftermarket intake. I know this opens the intake up to the engine bay, but so do the Stillen, pop charger and other short ram intakes.

Sure, but I'll have to wait for the weekend to put it together and take it back apart.

 

But the Stillen, CAIs, Pop Charger open up before the air filter. Is there anything protecting the engine since the resonator is after the air filter.

 

drewbp, I don't know what model G you have, but the sedan has the resonators on the tube (the one most replace with a z tube) and one under the air box. I already have a z-tube and recently removed the ones under the air box. These resonators are before the filter not after; combined they are about a foot long.
