Crawford vs. Kinetix Plenum Shootout!

Test Car: 2004 Infiniti G35 coupe 6MT
Mileage: 1,900
Octane: 93 (1/4 tank of gas)
mods: 350Z tube, plenum, RT cats, Borla TD exhaust, grounding kit, TS ECU

Here are the results:

Crawford Plenum:

Peak HP: 253.91
Max torque: 248.13

Kinetix Plenum:

Peak HP: 253.81
Max torque: 249.97

Each plenum was dyno'd until it would not make anymore power. This happened to be on the 6th run for each.

Here is the dyno sheet:

Re: Crawford vs. Kinetix Plenum Shootout!

I believe the Crawford is $399 + $200 for the core unless you give up your core.

The kinetix is $399 but he is doing a group buy for $359.

Re: Crawford vs. Kinetix Plenum Shootout!

What were your dyno numbers with all the other mods before you strapped on the plenum?

Re: Crawford vs. Kinetix Plenum Shootout!

Rememeber this is a plastic plenum. While there are plastic plenums on production cars they are 100% plastic, that is to say the upper and lower pieces are both plastic. The Kinetix is the upper plenum only. IMHO I will want to see some heat and cool down cycles of the plastic vs the metal lower plenum and the ability of the plastic to withstand the lower pressure air inside the plenum.

Great job Cinergi!

Just wanted to note that all the runs were done on the same car, on the same dyno and on the same day.

No. It lacks the attachment points in the rear.

Re: Crawford vs. Kinetix Plenum Shootout!

Are the Crawford results for the new plenum or for the previous version? Although you stated the price at $399.00 + $200.00 core charge, I would just like to be sure. The differences in the dyno results are basically nil, so at $359.00 for a group buy, the Kinetix looks rather appealing.

Re: Crawford vs. Kinetix Plenum Shootout!

The dyno was performed using the v4 of the crawford plenum. V5 does not offer any more performance. It just looks better and has virtually eliminated the diesel engine sound.

The $359 price is only an initial offering price. It will be good for 2-4 weeks. The exact time to be determined later.

After the sale, the price will go up to list price, 399.99

list price, plenum $399.99

***initial offering sale $359.99

high flow cats list $389.99

***package price plenum/high flow cats $729.99

Re: Crawford vs. Kinetix Plenum Shootout!

FI cars should probably look into using the Crawford. Has Kinetix stated anything about FI aplications?

I think LSDunique (guy at Kinetix) said he is working on a FI version that will be released at a later date. If you really want to keep on top of it, you can check the posts regularly at my350z.com in the engine\drivetrain section.

Re: Crawford vs. Kinetix Plenum Shootout!

i remember reading somewhere that another plenum will NOT be made for FI, he said that there is no flex for the current plenum and that it should hold up for FI apps..... however i havent seen any concrete evidence of this. Who wants to be the Guinea Pig?
