Test Pipes and SES, CEL

okay so i've been searching and i think i've got the breakdown.

wit' test pipes on an 04 coupe (which i have) i wont throw a CEL or SES is this true? unless it's and 04.5? Is there a way to check if it's a 04.5? probably not. And i really am not to handy when it comes to cars, so if i will throw a CEL, does anyone know of an exhaust shop in SOCAL that could do the non-fouler mod for me, preferably the same place that would install the pipes. okay thanks guys.

It doesn't matter what year it is, it WILL throw a CEL eventually. I think what you refer to as far as the years is the fact that 04.5+ have wideband sensors, which make it harder to trick the ECU via Non-Foulers.

Go ahead and do the non-foulers if you want to avoid a CEL/SES

I believe 03/03.5/04's will not throw a CEL. Or maybe it stopped at 03/03.5, but I know that the earlier models will not.

I've seen many 03's & 04's throw CEL's on Test Pipes. Besides, why take a chance. Non-foulers are easy to make and cost less than $10 dollars. Really nothing to lose besides the time drilling them.

And I've seen many that haven't. In fact, I,personally, have never seen an 03-04 throw a CEL with test pipes. Don't get me wrong, that isn't to say that none have. But I have seen EVERY 04.5+ throw one with test pipes. Don't fix what isn't broken, IMO. But I guess it's better to be safe than sorry when the cost is so low.

Take a chance? What chance? It's not like throwing a CEL because of test pipes is a big deal or anything. If it happens, then it happens...slap some non-foulers on.

As in, get it over with. It's double work...well not really, but lifting & getting under the car twice isn't conveniant.

He doesn't even know if his 04 is an 04.5, so why take a chance?

my 03 with test pipes just started throwing the P0420 code

that code can be thrown by test pipes or leaks behind the MAF.

Trying the non-foulers bc i need to get inspected in the next 20 days.

Need to have all the check in "ready mode" by then. sheesh...
