Crawford Plenum Sound Expectation
Crawford Plenum Sound Expectation
OK so now my GF is going with on the NC roadtrip this weekend. I am installing the plenum tommorrow now that i have the screws and wanted to get feedback as to the dB level in the car increasing with the plenum. I got yelled at for the injen intake and am wondering if the crawford sounds will be drowned out. Is there any perceptible volume increase?
I need to know if she should be drugged heavily ahead of time as to avoid the "honey i cant sleep" or "you wake me up everytime you pass someone............jesus honey you are going a hund...." know wadimean
I have version 4 btw

Cool - i know i'll figure it out before the trip but wanted to possibly put the thing off if it was going to be an awful big change. I just dont want to end up taking the outlander - too small and only goes SLOW

Funny I have the same problem. Whenever I get after it I get this really annoying whine coming from the passenger seat.
The strangest part is it only seems to happen when my wife is in the car.

I have been married for 37 years and my wife loves to hear a deep growl from an engine just as I do. That's the way an engine should sound. You will very diffinitely hear the Crawford Plenum!

sounds like you should be shopping for a girlfriend who shares your passion more. figure this...if she isn't sitting in the passenger seat, the performance gain from the weight reduction far surpasses the performance gain of the mods...right?
oh well

What you NEED is something just loud enough to drown out her incessant b!tching and moaning. Perhaps the Crawford Plenum will accomplish this in a satisfactory manner.
This is why I prefer to be single. **** can't complain.

I was snickering when i read this and almost got busted!
She's cool as hell - she bought the plenum for me in fact as a xmas present. She doesn't like the sound of the intake but she appreciates that my car is a little bit of a hobby and likes to push the car hard herself. I just wanted to know what to expect as 6.5 hours is a long time...
Also, as well as we get along, there are times when the ejection seat would be handy - added weight of the seat goes too! Then when those pesky modded WRX's tailgate you can show them fumes and give him a fireworks diplay too.

Re: Crawford Plenum Sound Expectation
i'm glad you are a good sport about our comments, as it is all in fun.
6.5 hours sounds like a long time, but believe it or not, when i order new parts i can't wait to put them on. i'm not sure whether i get more satisfaction from the finished product, or the effort it takes to install!!

I'm with Chad on this one... there is definitely a fun-factor with performance upgrade installs.... 6.5 hrs though is quite a bit... i thought the plenum was supposed to take around 2 hours tops?

Re: Crawford Plenum Sound Expectation
Yes - if it took me six hours it prob wouldn't run. Actually my mechanic has it as he has a whizzer to cut off the bolt I stripped on the electric throttle actuator,,,he will be completing the install today as to get it in there before the road trip. HE's great and will only charge me like 40 bucks to do the install. Lets me take his grand national on 1/4 mile runs too!
