intake/performance

i brought my infiniti to the dealer today and had fujita intake installed. First off the sound is amazing and wasnt expecting that much of a increase in sound. My question is does it add hp, i dont feel any increase in speed???

Also what would be my next step in performance to add hp but not break the bank???( ive heard about a spacer but dont understand anything about it??)
thanks

Intakes dont do much at all. Its mostly for sound. It will give you slight gains with an exhaust and/or spacer. Question: coupe/sedan, year, at/mt?

Spacer: http://www.motordyneengineering.com/G35.htm

BTW ...welcome

Next performance mod that won't break the bank are spacer and mrev combo. It would be a good 20HP+ increase. It will run you around 700ish I'd say. Which isn't toooo bad. However just getting the spacer would give you some gains that you can feel and run you around 300. Here's a link for them. You can find them cheaper im sure on here in the marketplace or other sites. http://motordyneengineering.com/G35.htm What spacers actually do is allow the engine to keep cooler by putting a bigger "space" between the plenum and allows for more cooler air which increase power. Engines like cold, not hot. Therefore more cold into the engine, moree power!!

Some others you can add are the coupe middy/HKS rear section. Although it is not a full catback (which can run 1000+), it will give you GREAT sound and add a couple horses to your g. Also, it will shave off about 30+ pounds from the stock sedan midpipe which weighs about 600lbs compared to the coupe middy which is about 17lbs lol. Coupe middy's on here can be sold for around 70 bucks on here and I've seen HKS rear sections go for around 300.

I've also heard the stillen engine damper gives you power. Not proven to give you Hp gains, but people say the responce feels quicker and more responsive by reducing the amount of vibration of the engine. You can find it at stillen.com and will run you about 150.

Also, wheels/tires do play a part in performance, not only looks. Getting a lighter set of wheels and tires will shave off a lot of weight and will make the car feel lighter and mroe responsive. I'm talking about size 18's..maybe 19's. Definatly not 20's lol. However, wheels/tires can be quite expensive lol.

Hope I helped, and if I am wrong in anything, feel free to chime in and correct me.

Get the spacer if you want the best bang for your buck. Its under 300 and give the car a nice umph with the intake. BTW use the search button. Thats why no one else is posting... its been discussed plenty of times. GL

I appreciate it but don't understand why you need to hate. I said chime in if I am wrong and correct me. I know how to use the search button but I was simply helping him because everyone is going to tell him to search. He is relatively a new member and maybe not familiar with the search section.

and my numbers were an estimate. Not a fact

Not hating at all its just your over estimating your facts. This kid might buy the spacer n mrev combo thinkin he's gonna get 20+ when he really isnt. Thats all

lol I understand. I guess I just read your post wrong. I was just simply stating what I have learned and read over the hours and hours of forum reading. In otherwords, I was pretty much saying you will be able to feel the differnce once you put the spacer and mrev on as opposed to throwin an intake in there for sound. It's something you actually feel.

My bad man. Thanks for clearin that up

He stated he had an 06 5AT so the MREV2 numbers/gains will not be the same for him (should be less). Those dyno numbers are for the 6MT rev-up engines. I wouldn't spend the money on the MREV2 if it was me.

Definately get the 5/16" spacer (don't bother with the 1/2" as the 5/16" has proven to give you more power over the entire band vs. just the top end).

Chris, good looking out. Helping the newbs find their way

I agree on the spacer. It's the next thing I would get after the intake. Not to expensive, but it will give you the power you want.

Thanks Chris!
