who told you the spacer was worthless for an automatic?

an intake is worthless for both MT and AT... its MOSTLY just for sound

the only thing that is worthless for your 5AT is the MD MERV2... is that what you ment?

If you are going to seriously modd your car i would go for a 6mt. If not then just hangout with the auto.

its the exactly same motor. The only diff is the ECU, IMO (I'm a believer that the OEM ECU is tuned different for the MT and also the Z and coupe diff than sedan)...

As for as mods go, if you are after performance, and AT modded properly does respond very well!

I don't know why people keep saying this. It isn't true. A high flow intake with additional intake mods and good exhaust (including HFC or Test pipes) all work together for max benefit.

Leaving your stock intake on and adding spacer, modified plenum, TBS, HFC (possibly headers) and hi flow exhaust - will not respond as well as doing all those things with hi flow intake.

I'm not going to debate all the theoretical posts that may follow... do the mods I have and then post before and after dynos with OEM and a decent After market intake (including Z-Tube)... otherwise I think people should stop stating that they are for sound only.

I’m not trying to turn this into a flame war… so won’t get into the typical drama debate over this… quite frankly whatever someone does to their car is up to them in the long run, I just hope they read the real old threads out here when they research – they have a lot more value than some of the more recent stuff…

not worthless, i have both and on a AT. can tell the difference with both. if you buy both and dont like them, you can always keep them and add them to a 6MT.

best bang for the buck - get yourself a 5/16 motordyne spacer and jwt popcharger with z-tube. you'll gain a little hp over the whole range and sound good doing it.

Whether you are revup or not, the spacer would work just as well in any. Don't expect too much from an intake though, because it isn't going to give you anywhere near the performance of other modifications.

I wouldn't get an MT ONLY because of modding. That should not be a reason for switching. But if you really want a 6MT, well, I can guarantee you your driving will be much more fun

.

Go for it. I asked myself this same question when I was wondering if I should put my HKS exhaust on a 5AT car. Because you'll hear a lot of guys talking **** about modding automatic cars and how it's stupid. But in the end it's your car and if you like what your mods do for you, then that's all that matters, why even care?

If people look down on your choice of car mods because it's automatic, then you should probably take everything they say with a huge grain of salt anyway because they are either 18 year old boy racer or just saying it because they've heard it around car enthusiast communities so much.
