Intake + Header + Exaust, worth it?

Hi,
I have a Sedan 2003, 5AT, Virgin G35.

I was wondering if adding Intake + Header + Exaust worth it. I know that TT could be a great addition, but how much rwhp I can get without force induction upgrade?

Regards,

Xat

i'd give you a rough estimate of a max of 15hp? with a plenum and spacer you could pull off maybe 30+? someone jump in and correct me, but it's nothing compared to F/I gains

Then by now, Cost vs hp gain is no effective.

Yeah, it does and that's about what you should expect. I don't see the headers doing much without a low restriction exhaust of somekind.

"Worth it" all depends on you. Even if its not worth it, I'd still do it, because its an addiction & passion for me.

Full NA (Intake, Plenum Spacer, MREV2, Exhaust, Cats/TP, Headers, & tune) will probably yield 35 peak rwhp / 30 rwtq at max. (The change in the overall powercurve, especially mid-range, might be more attractive than the peak power itself).

You could always get yourself a Vortech complete kit and use it right out of the box installed for maybe ~$2000 more than you would spend going full NA.

Very true, these motors are tweeked quite a bit as it it. It's not like a Chevy small block that you can bolt an intake, Carb, Headers and low restriction exhaust and get an additional 75HP.

MD 5/16 Spacer, JWT pop charger/z-tube or Stillen/z-tube, coupe mid pipe, HKS rear exhaust section

be sure to reset your ECU after installing the mods

15whp should knock off about 0.2 seconds off your 1/4 time and about 0.1 seconds off your 0-60 time. You'll also get a nice aggressive sound, so I would say for most people on these forums would say that it is worth it.

Mine is more of a family car, so I prefer the quiet sound. So for me it's not worth spending upwards of 2 grand for bolt on mods that give very little gains and lots more noise. If I was single though...I would do intake, spacer, and exhaust at least.

High compression? They are already 10.5:1 now! Now there is a stroker kit that gives you 4.1L, that way you don't have to do a lot of machine work.

BC0229 - Brian Crower VQ35 Stroker Kit
The BC stroker kit for the Nissan VQ35DE engine platform incorporates a 88mm stroke, steel billet crank, BC 4340 Pro Series Billet rods rated to 1200+ horsepower. Depending on bore size that you decide, the BC kit will take you up to a 4.15L with 100mm bore. As usual, each BC kit features custom CP aluminum forged pistons, 9310 alloy wrist pins, ring pack and buttons. Available in any desired bore and compression ratio for use in turbo or normally aspirated.
BC 4340 billet steel crankshaft (88mm or 86.4mm stroke).
BC 4340 Pro Series steel billet connecting rods w/ARP 220,000 psi fasteners.
CP aluminum forged pistons (any bore size, any compression ratio).
9310 nickel carbon steel alloy wrist pins.
Ductile iron plasma top rings, tapered second ring, low tension oil rings.
Typically includes aluminum buttons/rail supports (not locks).
Requires balancing. 88mm stroke requires block clearancing. Please specify bore and compression ratio desired when ordering.

Price: $ 5,200.00 / Each

That’s what I was talkin about as far as a built engine.. Which I think for the money is a lot better then going FI cause of the fact the power is about the same or more with less money and hassle

And you don't loose as much when it gets Hot!

But heck, I'll bet that it cost as much as a new G to get Cosworth to build you a motor. For that kind of scratch, I'll buy a GT-R!
