HKS tips help.

I installed an XO2 exhaust on my g the other day. But the tips are ****ty material, and seeing how it is almost an exact replica of the HKS dual exhaust, I was wondering if anyone knew where to get the HKS tips for it?

ITT: You get what you pay for.

But seriously, I don't know if the HKS tips would fit the X02 since they are slightly different, or if you can even buy HKS tips separate from the catback exhaust.

you can order the tips through HKS there about 200$ though. not really worth it imo.. if your so concerned about the tips, you should have bought the real deal

theyre really the exact same, probably just different material. and honestly, two 200 dollar tips with my exhaust wouldnt even go over 1000, and the HKS is well over 1000...to me its worth it.

You may have to do some rigging to get the HKS tips to fit right; the bolts that hold the tip in place are in the middle of the tip on the HKS and near the outer edge where the burnt color is on the X02. Just a heads up that this isn't probably going to be a plug and play kind of deal. Good luck.

yea thats fine haha. and its not that they arent that good. its just the bolts that were holding them on werent the best so one fell off on the road but i switched the bolts out on the other one so the other one is perfect. i just need one. I was thinking about completely modifying it though...tell me what you think of this:

where the tip expands right outside the mufflers, cutting the pipe right before it expands. it is 2.5 inches i think. I could then smooth off the edges and weld on a different tip. for example, i was looking at tips from magnaflow and they have one that has dual tips. personally, i think itd look pretty tight to have a quad exhaust on a g, ive never seen it done before and its definitely possible with a little tweaks...id just have to be real careful with the cutting.

I would just seriously consider selling your X02, eating the loss, and saving up for the HKS. I mean geez one of the damn tips fell off while you were driving do you think that thing is going to hold up for that much longer??

I was also shopping for exhausts about a month ago and it was up between the X02 or HKS. I ended up going with the HKS. I haven't put it on yet but just from having it laid out in my living room I am exceptionally happy with the craftsmanship and finish, I gave my tips a tug and they're definitely not falling off lol.

I know this isn't advice that you asked for, but I would rather pay a bit more for a high quality proven exhaust than rig up something cool from a second rate product. But if the quad tip X02 thing floats your boat, it definitely would look cool so post pics if you decide to do it.

well honestly, if i had the chance to try the exhaust out for a few days and decide then I would have chosen a different one but i still love it. I wouldve gone with the FI intimidator but i just didnt have enough money. I only had to pay 450 because i got it on a huge sale. So eventually in the future I may just upgrade to the FI intimidator with that custom x pipe. but thats when i get enough money, which is not now. first things first though. i need a tip!
