Does anyone use the K&N Typhoon Intake Air System? Your input would be appreciated. I saw them on ebay for $191.

 

I do, and I love it... That is a good price for it, I think I paid like 229 for mine.

There are two versions of the Typhoon, a full CAI and a short ram. The coupe uses the full CAI and the sedan uses the short ram without a heat shield. The sedan version is usually $199 and I have seen it as low as $169. For the coupe's CAI it usually is $220ish. I might pick up the short ram this spring but wouldn't mind seeing a few pics of it installed.

The coupe version of the CAI can also be installed as a short RAM. It was an easy install except that the screws that were provided for the MAF were larger than the driver that they provided and the filter was NOT the dual velocity one that was described in the box. The K&N rep said that the G35 could not handle the increased flow provided by the dual velocity so they just put in the closed end filter. If you decide to install the AEM bypass valve on the CAI, you will have to cut about 3/4-inch off each of the two sections of pipe near the MAF. Otherwise, you can't reinstall the screw that holds the AC line and the CAI to the frame.

 

Looking into the K&N CAI myself. Wondering how it compares to the Z-tube Popcharger. between the two. Appreciate any feedback.

Thanks for the link, I didn't remember seeing the short ram picture before. I also didn't know the kit for the coupe could be used either way so that's pretty cool. I wonder why they didn't make a full CAI for the sedan.
