Hello:
I have been looking at your HFC's for a while now, but still have not purchased them due to lack of reviews. The forum that i belog to seems to think that the stillen HFC's are renamed random technology HFC's. Are they infact made by random tech or are they made in house at stillen? Also the dyno graph that is provided here...
http://www.stillen.com/product_files/503430~dyno.pdf
What type of dyno was used and were there any other mods on the car at the time? Also, was it a 350z or g35 and what year and gearbox?
Thanks,
Sean

Dear Mr. Flynn,
However, the Stillen HFC are made here by Stillen.
We do not outsource these.

I tried 3 combos myself. HKS exhaust w/ stock cats, HKS exhaust w/ Kinetix HFC, and HFC w/ stock exhaust....
HKS w/stock cats (N/A) felt the best to me and offered the best performance. I instantly felt a difference in torque/acceleration...the sound is up for debate, because I like the stock sound better.
HKS Exhaust w/ HFC was GHETTO LOUD! I could only live with it for a week of daily driving. After that, i had to take it off. It sounded terrible to me, and It felt like I loss torque.
HFC w/ stock exhaust felt okaaay, but It just made me realize how much faster my car was with the true dual exhaust.
I ended up selling my HFC and I stuck my stock exhaust in the back of the garage....Looks like I'll just be running the HKS for now, plus it looks sexy, hehe...
If you're so worried about the bracket, why not just go with the FI HFC's and have a shop weld up some brackets to attatch them to the stock tranny mount????

And to my knowledge there have been no reports of FI cats cracking. Not quite. They still need them. FI has gotten away with not having them by using the angled Magnaflow cat. They now seem to be using the straight cats. The angled cat make the part a bit stonger, but not having the brace will allow the rest of the exhaust to bind as the motor moves.
Yes, Fast Intention HFC's crack as well. I replaced a set a few months ago at our shop. They crack where they all crack, right at the lower portion of the cat. It wasn't the weld that was bad, it was the cat that had cracked through. I've had 3 cracked cats (not welds) in 2008, all on non braced VQ35DE HFC's, zero on the braced VQ35HR & VQ37HR HFC's. Since we added brackets accross all of the motors, zero cracks. As long as we keep warrantys under 1%, we're doing our job.
Nobody makes lifetime use parts, not IBM, not Nissan, not Fast Intentions, not Berk. Otherwise, there would be no such thing as warranties.

Also, I would like to point out that by having the extra wideband bung after the catalytic converter will give you an improper air fuel reading. You want your wideband as close to the manifolds as possible without the restriction of a cat to throw the reading off. In addition the design of those cats look real familiar. Hint, Hint!!!
The extra pair of wideband bungs were added to the original product, which were test pipes only. I already have all of my pipes bent and pre-drilled for that O2 bung location so we just give them to you for no charge. However, 99% of you will never use them anyhow so it's a moot point.
Cats are not a "restriction" to getting a clean wideband signal. They measure the AFR (air fuel ratio) not the absolute amount of oxygen content in the exhaust gas. Oxygen is a by product of the catalytic converter catalyzing the NOx emmisions. (I can't believe you don't know how a catalytic converter functions!)
So in the case of you small minority of people who will be using a dedicated stand alone wideband air fuel sensor (Innovative XD-16, AEM UEGO, HKS AF Knock Amp, Neko Meter, etc) you'll get a reading ~.2 points leaner after the cat.
For the 99% of the rest of you, don't worry about it, you won't use the wide band ports anyways.
About our product looking similar to yours, we use the same Magnaflow cats. Of course they are going to look similar. But as you know, both you or I don't have exclusive use rights to Magnaflow product, unless one of us buys Magnaflow/Car Sound (which ain't going to happen). I use the same Magnaflow cats accross all of our platforms, the 350Z/G35/G37, Honda S2000, EVO 8/9, and Toyota MR2 Turbo.
I've never even seen any of your products in person until last month.
And those pics as requested.

(if you are wondering what that little square is for, it's the backgauge for the bender. The parts are cut first on a Mitsubishi laser, then feed into the CNC bender. That back gauge is the "stopper". We grind them off before we ship them to you.)
Nobdy builds them better.....

Nobody goes faster.....

Does anybody have a sound clip of the Berk cats on a G35 coupe with stock exhaust? I already heard FI (sounds very nice), and I've heard the Berk cats on a G37 (sounds very nice). I'd like to hear the Berk HFC's on a G35 before I choose between the two.
