exhausts preferences

While we're on the subject of exhausts, I think a lot of us have difference wants from the intangible qualities of the system (i.e. appearance, weight, sound).

I'm pretty new to the Infiniti "scene", but I've been doing a bit of research on this topic and found that there are many different systems available to tailor to everyone's preferences.

What I want from my exhaust:
- no HP/torque loss anywhere on the power band
- a TAD bit more aggressive under 3500 RPM such that it will not interfere with everyday driving.
- no resonance (would get too annoyed)
- will be noticed at WOT
- weighs less than stock
- tips similar to stock, maybe a little bigger

I was really leaning towards the Injen system, but backed off a when I saw that it is really loud < 3000 RPM and resonates at 1800 RPM. Since I will probably replace the entire system (headers back) at some point, I should probably look for something on the quieter side right now, since it will inevitably get louder as I add the CATS and Y-pipe/H-pipe.

With this is mind, what do you guys recommend? What qualities do you look for?

Re: exhausts preferences

I'm looking for a noticable difference in sound but dont want it too loud or ricey. I'm leaning towards the injen right now but what is loud to some might be nothing to others so im holding off until I can hear one in person. Hopefully ATCO will be the place to do it. The price seems right and as far as gains I dont think im gonna really feel and of the gains by any exhaust. So Basically what I look for is sound and I guess Im gonna have to keep lookin cause I cant find one yet.

Yes, it would be nice to hear some in person. I do agree with you though, I don't want that "bumble-bee" exhaust tone that you hear with the common Honda exhausts... LOL.

My last car was an Audi S4 and I had a Forge/Milltek exhaust on that. The system was near stock sound during everyday driving, but it screamed at WOT from the outside of the car. It was nice.

Re: exhausts preferences

You need the HKS Sport Rear muffler. This is the one that fit your need perfectly and low cost too. Roughly $400 depends where you shop.
