A testpipe is a straight pipe, that would be the non-resonated kind.

300 cell FI or equivalent HFC will not rasp with stock exhaust (headers and cat back)? Resonated test pipes wont rasp?

I'm about to install Crawford HFC's on a new OEM exhaust, I'll post up video clips and sound clips in about 2 weeks when I get them installed.

I don't know what all the fuss is about with this though. If you do a header/testpipe/whole nine yards with stock exhaust then you will sound like crap. However, a testpipe (especially one with a resonator) shouldn't cause that. I've heard a few clips already and it sounds like a sure way to save some money and get a nice sound.

Plus let's be serious...what will you gain more power from? Deleting the cat or replacing everything after the cat? Exhaust is nice to have but it's just too much money.

I don't think you'd notice a few hp on a car with 280 of them. If you're really looking for some gains just save your money and go FI. I've owned too many cars and dumped too much money into buying worthless add-ons like intakes and exhaust that don't do squat. Don't get me wrong, I still would do it all over again but not for performance gains.

I had a muffler shop build me a 2.5 inch tru dual exhaust (magnaflow) with an x-pipe and man does it sound mean. Its not obnoxious or ricy just deep and a little raspy. I kept my stock tips for a sleeper look and at idle you can't even hear it.

I will try to get you the video clip. It is a little louder then stock and to be honest w/ you puts the HKS exhaust to shame. The only one that's a little louder then mine is Injen. Magnaflow makes some nice exhausts and if you have a good muffler shop design and build you a custom exhaust, you will save a ton of money and will have the distinct sound. Where do you live?

See, this sounds like a good way to go but I love the stock tone on our cars. I would never want to change it I just want it louder. Only exhaust I've heard that even compares IMO is the HKS which I had on my S2000, but is it worth over $1,000? I think not.
