is the stock tube the same size diameter as the z tube? if so would plugging the resonators make the stock exactly the same as the z?

It's probably not worth spending the time modifying the stock tube when the Z tube is so inexpensive (unless you want to maintain a completely stock look).

The stock G35 tube isn't 2.5", They're both 3". The G35 tube just has additional baffles.

By the way, if the Z tube is the same diameter (I figured it was otherwise how does it directly replace) where are the 7 ponies coming from on the Z?

Lack of resonators, freer exhaust, different ECU timings, and a little magic marketting fairy dust.

 

I thing EverythingG35 is right. I read somewhere that the stock tube was 2.5" and the Z-tube was 3", then I started quoting that (like an idiot) and I was wrong. The stock tube connects to the throttle body the same way the Z-tube connects to the throttle body (same diameters). The restrictors, or baffels, on the stock tube are simply not on the 350Z intake tube allowing the air to flow into the engine more freely.

The stock tube is also more "S" shaped with all its little accordian connectors...the Z tube is a straight shot into the inake ....w/o the extra "Growths" on it that our tube has....
