My R/T cats are comming off next week, I can't take it anymore. (raspy) I'll probably sell them CHEAP! They only have about 2k miles on them.

 

Before you sell the cats, install an air intake and a plenum (Crawford recommended). The rasp will go away almost 100% (mine did) and the performance gain will put one heck of a "perma-grin" on your face.

R/T Cats + Stillen Exhaust is known to give you monster rasp and very loud exhaust tones....

that's just the way the combo is I guess...

 

what about the Labree cats?

My rattle/rasp continues to occur around 3.5K rpms. No solution found yet, from my dealer or on my350z.com. Somedays I'm so ready to trash these R.T. Cats but I love the performance increase. Oh well, what to do??

Have you concluded that the rasp is not due to installation issues? Did you use 3/8" washers on both sides of every fitting that has a large slot? Could the "rasp" really be a rattle? I'm only trying to help... and again, I guess I could just be lucky that I'm not experiencing this problem.

I have the RT Cats on with the Injen exhaust and at first it was real loud and it would resonate at highway cruising speeds... But now it has mellowd out considerably some 500 plus miles later... Everyone loves the sound. Its not too loud but definately deeper... I think the raspy sound people are talking about is a rattle sound of the tubes hitting up against the body... Mine did this before, too, so I went to the shop and got it refitted...No more rattle....

Yes Neff, I've had it looked over by the dealer and also took the service rep out for a test drive and they heard it, brought it back and tried to determine the source with no luck. It seems to happen only under torque load, again at 3-4K rpms. It sounds like that bb in the can sound. Not really a rattle sound. I somehow need it looked at while running it in gear?
