exhaust/MPG

Hey guys, does anyone know if the new stillen catback gen2 have any impact on MPG positive or negative? I'm about to spend $1002 on one and it would be a shame if it makes my 04 6SPD get worse gas mileage. I'm not looking for an increase, I just don't want to get any worse. Please share your experience.

My HKS/coupe mid made no difference in MPGs, except for me getting on it to hear the roar, so if you drive the same after as you did before, no difference

Ok thanks, I guess in that sense it will have a negative impact because there is no way I will get one and NOT put my foot in the tank. Oh the sound. I currently have the HKS rear section and it could be attributed to my 17-18MPG average in the city. Foot in tank = sound = MPG but sometimes it's worth it.

I got the hks/coupe mid too and cant help but push it to hear it at WOT. I used to be very **** about using too much gas, but I finally came to conclusion that if I'm spending all this money to make the car look and sound good, might as well get use out of it and hear what this car really is supposed to sound like. I'll just get more gas later haha.

i got mine used on here for 290 shipped. Rare to find, but you can look around and wait. Some sponsors are selling some for like 375 I think. However, I feel it's worth every penny

The Stillen catback will gain you some horsepower but the HKS muffler will not. Depends what you looking for out of your car.

Exactly right, that's why I'm leaning towards it along with a set of hi-flow cats.

Look at getting Berk technology cats, the owner of the preformance shop I got to recommended it because the fitment good and all brackets line up with the stock.

Aftermarket exhaust vs gas milage....!

Any aftermarket exhaust system will give you better gas milage. The problem
is YOU, the sound of the exhaust enters your brain and you like what you hear
so it makes your right foot press a little harder and more often....you lose gas
milage but the sound is worth every gallon....

I have seen an increase from @16mpg to @24mpg ( 75% city, 25% hwy ) after installing an MD 1/2" spacer, my own fabricated SS 3" Z tube, K&N drop in filter, modified Topspeed Y-pipe with a Magnaflow 2-1 muffler hooked to a 3" megan mid pipe, and the same Magnflow muffler turned around on the back with stock tips.
It is hard to keep the foot out, but as stated above you should see an increase if you can drive restrained, most of the time.
I have been in the custom exhaust business for 5 yr's now, and it is always the same, once people get use to the vehicle and settle down, they see an increase in mpg.

Well thanks guys for your input. Did the stillen Gen2 price go up because gas prices went up , it was $964, now a whopping $1052. Kind of hard to make sense out of this, if I wasn't getting all this deployed cash I probably would have went for the Greddy Evo2 since i had it on a 02 Maxima and loved it.

It probably went up because the 07 model came out and they aren't manufacturing the older version as much as for the new models.
