Intake & Exhaust Questions and info regarding various aftermatket exhaust systems for the G35 (Headers,Y-Pipes, and Cat-Back Systems)

Ok, I wanted to do a STRAIGHT UP Comparison...Z-tube + JWT vs Z-tube + K&N Drop in

Only in the noise department. Don't expect huge gains with intake mods and no tune...no mater what you do short of forced induction (that could be considered an intake mod ).

EDIT: And NEVER listen to a manufacturers claim about how much HP/TQ their system gives. Dyno's tell the real story.

True. True. I'm seriously considering a supercharger. Gotta read some threads and do my homework. My thing is, Im going to need an everyday car so I may just do little small mods on the G35 and do MAJOR mods on a Supra or spring for a GT-R or AUDI S5<----- that all depends on other things that I'm working on.

Thought about a G37 but its not worth it, IMHO. If it was a TOTAL redesign, maybe but I dont trade up when they do the "updated lights" and other things here and there. Performance-wise, 0-60 in 5.8 or 0-60 in 5.4? After a while, you wont be able to tell the difference unless you drive both. Is this a can of worms?LOL

Anyone have a before and After with a Stillen Intake and Z Tube?

Dynojet print out's preferably??

Also how do stock G35's Dyno between 03-04 to the Revup 05-up motors?

Wahts the difference in power on a real world dyno like a dynojet?

Go for the K&N Drop-In Filter + Z-Tube over the Pop Charger. All that heat soak from the pop charger would probably affect city driving more than anything (though it probably isn't that much)

Nonsense! You just replace the Pop Charger with stock when it comes time to sell.

LOL. True. Never sell yor car with custom mods if you can take them off...if you are going to the dealer that is.

+1 K&N drop in and Z tube. Intakes do very little in terms of power. The Stillen air box and element would be the way to go if you want the JWT type element and air box that is sealed from the engine.

However, just try the JWT and report the results. The sound is great. Maybe keep the JWT for the cooler weather...

The funny thing about the Stillen is the fact that it almost just recreates the stock set up, lol...Now, if someone can prove that a cone filter vs a drop in K&N is better,... then the Stillen is the way to go. But why go through all the trouble to re-create a stock set up?lol. Not asking YOU, Zed 71, just Stillen in general.

BTW, your intake sucks in hot air REGARDLESS of which if these you choose. Something that I forgot about but verified yesterday is even the stock intake sucks in somewhat hot air. If you want to see for yourself, just drive and when you park, pop the hood and feel your filter (even the stock drop in). Its gonna be hot.

A ram air system would be really easy to design on these cars. I did it on a car before. The only thing is, the filter was RIGHT at the intake manifold as opposed to being at the end of the intake tubing like ours is.

The Stillen intake has a velocity ring that directs the air into the tube.

GAVEL!!! I went with the Z-tube. Just added it to my K&N drop in. You can feel it a bit. It makes sense being that the factory has all those ducts. WOW. Did Nissan wanna quiet the car THAT much?LOL. Now, Imma drive this for a bit and then add the JWT. If I can find a spot in GA to Dyno it I will. I just dont wanna look crazy. Its just a tube, lol.

It sounds great too. If you say that you cant feel a difference then you probably arent THAT in tune with your car. Think about it. The air is coming right in, smoothly as opposed to being diffused by all those ducts and holes, lol. So it makes sense that it feels slightly more responsive. Just dont get carried away with it, lol. I dont know about 10HP.

I swear i see a Velocity stock in this kit correct?

This alone should help with power! If you cna work a duct that throws cool air frmo outside to the intake you'd be money, or hook up that velocity stock with no filter at the track to suck in cool air...

I think I saw a dyno with a Stillen CAI and z-tube somewhere on this forum and it made 3 HP at the rear in the upper RPM range.

Yeah, I hear ya regarding Stillen re-creating the OEM box. It has been shown on this forum and 350Z that the stock air box is hard to beat in terms of appreciable power gains. Sound on the other hand is subjective.

Let us know how you like the JWT when you try it.
