newb with questions..

Hey guys I just got an '04 OB G35 Coupe 5AT. I really like the stock sound at low rpms with the growl, but is there an exhaust that'll keep the stock sound but just louder and more noticeable at higher rpms? I keep reading about Fast intentions and HKS. They sound awesome, but I dont understand the whole test pipes, and cats stuff. So my question is what all do I need to get a full exhaust system? If someone could explain it to me that would be great. Also any recommendations for an exhaust with louder stock sound? Thanks guys!

Louder stock sound = Fast Intentions Intimidator (replaces stock y-pipe, mid-pipe and muffler)

Even louder stock sound with no rasp = Fast Intentions + High-flow cats (to replace stock cats)

Extremely loud stock sound with rasp = Fast Intentions Intimidator + Test Pipes (to replace stock cats)

Being as your car is AT, you might have some drone at ~70mph. This shouldn't really be noticeable above 75 or much below 70 at all. However, if you usually listen to music it won't be a problem at all.

Some people also like the Stillen exhaust to increase stock sound.

First of all you are a Newb, NOT a Noob, look up the difference!

Yes there are a lot of exhausts out there and MOST are louder than stock, some drone at 25-3000 RPM (not rpm's, that would be revolutions per minutes, pet peeve), some have a rasp and some have a nice throaty rumble. You will just have to do your research and see which one you like best. Test pipes are just pieces of straight pipe that replace the Catalytic converters (not recommended if you live in a smog state). There are High Flow Cats that will flow more (not something you need unless you are doing a lot of breathing mods), but they cost quite a bit.

I think you need a "Cat back" system of some sort. Look on this thread: https://g35driver.com/forums/intake-exhaust/235719-exhaust-g.html

As the post says, "what are your goals and expectations", we need to know this first.

Good comparison of stock vs. Fast Intentions Intimidator with HFCs:

Look at my exhaust thread below... Just make sure you don't put on test pipes because it will sound like mine.

well worth the 180 bucks a shop will charge.

$170 labor
$10 for parts lol
