Making Injen CAI into short ram?

ok guys so ive been hearing that you can actually run your Injen CAI short ram without losing any performance or the nice sound. id really appreciate it if someone could tell me how this can be done. I live in SoCal , and i know we dont get much rain but i just dontwant to risk water getting into my engine. This would really help.

oh by the way i drive a '05 OB G35 AT

Thanks for all the help in advance

... wow.. why would u have ur mechanic do a 10 min job?

a injen Cold air it comes in two pieces
and u have to put the pieces together
if u just put one piece to the throttle body and put the filter on its end
there u go u have a short ram and
if u want a full cold air u have to unscrew ur bumper and attach the send piece to and the filter to the end of the second piece
and u have cold air buddy

^ actually you can install it through the wheel well w/o removing the bumper... If I were you I wouldn't run it as a short ram as it will be sucking in just hot air and it is a metal tube so your engine will be running off hot air, unless you make some sort of amazing heat shield for it, it wouldn't be worth having a CAI and run it short ram, buy a stillen air box and a ztube if you want a short ram, otherwise extend your intake down into your bumper.. no water gets sucked up on mine and im in norcal

they don't sell a heatshield anywhere.. you'd have to buy a stillen airbox ~150 i think to get the headshield from it.. i think they sell the waterguard online at the injen website
