Altering the MID PIPE

Ok, i was wondering has any one just altered the mid pipe. I think its a muffler or is it a resonator, can any one tell me what it is. From researching i read that the mid pipe is restrictive with the airflow. I was going to just get that piece replaced with a borla one, for better airflow. I was going for a louder STOCK SOUND exhaust. I have HFC's and was told to replace the mid pipe with a better one. But i fugured it cheaper to just replace that muffler piece.

You can put in another resonator but it honestly won't make much of a difference on the dyno. The resonator isn't really all that restrictive.

But you can certaintly change the sound.

What ever you do, make sure you use a resonator of some kind... It sounds like hell if you don't use one.

So replacing the mid-pipe with a blank section of pipe is a bad idea? and what type of hell would it sound like? (honest and serious question)

Do not replace it witha blacnk pice of pip,e you will get a raspy sound. And the resonator doesnt restrict much power .

if you want extra sound, go with my plan.

I plan on ordering this soon, http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/s...e=main&id=7390

and just put it in place of the resonator for a slightly better sound.
There isnt much gains from a cataback on our cars so i rather put the money towrds some berk HFC

I'm not thinking of how much power is restricted... all I am trying to do is get more sound... and I can get a blank piece bent WAY cheaper than finding a coupe midpipe...

yeah thats what im mainly going for a LOUDER STOCK SOUND. So i figure changing the mid pipe resonator might help with more power and sound.

you need at least some kind of resonator of muffler there in place of it. Or else youll get a nasty raspy sound.

Stop being cheap, u can get a round magnaflow muffler/resonator to put in place of it for 75$
