Yeah Tony is the man. Its nice to have a company making products, that has as much passion about our cars as the ones hooking them up.

There is one other thing to note about how the Iso Thermal works.

Iso Thermal greatly reduces the heat transfer rate and it does indeed reduce plenum temperature by 30'F - 60'F (while you are driving).

Without Iso Thermal the plenum temperature runs at about 150'F.
Once the car is shut down the plenum temperature will rise to about 170'F in about 1 minute.

With Iso Thermal the plenum temperature runs at about 105'F.
Once the car is shut down the plenum temperature will rise to about 160'F in about 4 minutes.

So either way, once the car is shut down the plenum will get hot. If you were to do a subjective comparison of how the Iso Thermal works, do a spirited run of any duration, but once you stop, get out of the car and immediately feel the temperature of the plenum.

Without Iso Thermal it will be hot.
With Iso Thermal it will only be warm.
But to do a comparison, you need to check it immediately after shutdown.

I've data logged thermocouple temperatures and found all the differences in heat soak rates. this is how I found the difference in steady state driving and soakback temperature after shut down.

There is also one other very important factor. (What intake are you using)
I found the stock intake is the only true cold air intake. All the other aftermarket intakes draw in hot air from the engine compartment (~150'F).
If you are using a aftermarket intake it will make the plenum run a lot hotter.
Even with Iso Thermal, the plenum can never be any cooler than the air flowing through it.

Thanks Tony. I can't wait to install my 5/16" CITPS kit. I finally got it. Only thing is I couldn't find a torque wrench with Inches/lbs Vs. Ft/lbs.

What's the best way around this? I don't want to put too much pressure on those bolts/nuts etc

Use a pair of leather gloves and a nut driver.

When you turn the nut driver as hard as you can, the peak torque will be about 90 inch-lbs.

Because you know peak torque is ~90 inch-lbs, you can estimate any fraction of that amount by how hard you turn.

Turn 1/2 as hard as you can and that will be about 45 inch-lbs.
Turn 2/3 as hard as you can and that will be about 60 inch-lbs.
and so on.

Or if you can find a 3/8" torque wrench, divide the number of foot pounds by 12 to get inch pounds.

100 inch pounds = 8.33. I'd err to the low side to be safe, so 8 foot pounds

Thanks. I went ahead and installed everything tonight

a. 5/16 plenum spacer
b. ztube
c K&N airfilter into stock box
d. installed last 2 by removing gtube and replacing it with ztube after the spacer install.

Everything went great except now my stock airbox won't line up perfectly and sit flush like it did before. Can you guys help?

Nothing fell in that area (I didn't lose any screws spare parts etc.) I took my time with the install etc.

Its just that when I tried to line up the ztube/stock airbox I couldn't get the darn box to sit back flush like it was before.

I took it out. Put it back, tried shimming it around to see if it's sitting on some support but no matter what I did tonight, the box still sits like 1 inch higher on the right next to the black screw that mounts it to the body of the car.

I'll have to take a pic so you guys can see what I mean. Other than this one mishap, everything went great and I HIGHLY recommend all of these products particulary the spacer setup.

Thanks Tony for a great product

There are press in plugs on the bottom of the air box that must line up and be pressed into the rubber grommets that are in the sheet metal chassis.

Take the air box back out to see where everything needs to line up and take your time to get it in right. It will fit good.

Thank you Tiguy99!
Tony
