Exclamation Why Should I !?

Ok so my first mod for my engine is a Z tube intake, i heard it gives maybe 1-2 mpg and gives a deeper growl anyways back to my point, their selling them on eBay for $80+ plus shipping, but all it just seems is a small 1 foot tube, that u change with ur stock intake and thats it, so why dont I just go to home depot and just make one my self and slap a Nissan sticker on it :P i mean whats the difference in buying a tube the same size and diameter between buying a Genuine Nissan Z tube intake. The only difference i can think of is just how cheap and weird it would look right ? but if it does the same performance, why not ?

heres what i was looking at

if u use pvc which i believe previous members have tried, when the pvc is heated up it emits harmful fumes into your engine and cause problems....i know theres a thread on this somewhere but i wouldnt recommend it...

So you're basically gonna spend about $20 on some junk before you spend the $80 huh? Hell, go for it... Give it a try... What do you have to lose?

you will not see a 1-2 mpg gain! Dude, you drive a G35 and you can't afford an $80 part? Do it right the first time and don't go cheap. If you are going to make anything homemade then do it with a 3" piece of aluminum.

Homonyms FTL. There.......

Heat conduction/absorption is the biggest downside to a metal tube.
