Need opinons - exhaust controller install on FI exhaust

Hey guys - got a problem, need opinons. I have the Fast Intentions exhaust and I simply love it. I mean I love it. I love the look, I love the sound the whole package. It is however a bit loud for the wifey and when I'm driving clients around. I also find it drones a bit on the highway at around 65 MPH.

I'm now adding a set of Berk HFC and I'm sure the sound is only going to get louder. What I want to do is add a set of these

Another member on here did it and it seemed to work great. I need your opinons about this setup. Firstly, do you think it is a good idea? Should I be worried about too much back pressure? Where should I mount them, and if I do should I mount 1 valve or 2?

Thanks guys

It will certaintly work but it will add about 1.75" length to your exhaust system and will offset all the hangers and fitment. You will need to cut into and shorten the exhaust somewhere in the system to make it fit.

The further back in the system you put it, the better it will work.

It is worth a try but before you cut anything test fit it. Then call me directly if it doesn't work...

One will make a significant difference in sound and may even be enough to do the job.

If you do, do it well behind the X section.

I will significantly change the tuning of the exhaust system. I can't say exactly how it will change it but it certaintly will.

You may even find that "slightly" closing the valve may notch out that drone you encounter at 65 MPH.

Closing it "very slightly" will quickly change the tuneing frequency without adding a whole lot of additional back pressure.

The good thing is that its adjustable. And this will allow some adjustability in the exhaust system tune.

Hey all - thanks Tony and Tony for the heavyweight opinons.

I ordered the exhaust valves and now have to shorten the exhaust about 1.5" but make it adjustable so I can take them out or put them in. The switch I ordered should fit perfectly in the knock out plate down by the hood release and even has an Amber LED so it should look totally stock.

Will post pictures when I'm done.

I thought you could buy baffles that sit in the end, that lower the noise? Folks use them for trackdays where they may suffer from noise restrictions.. I'll research further.

I saw those before but I find they sound like fart cans. I wanted a quick and easy way to either make it quiet when I'm picking my kid up at school or go ***** out when I choose to.

I figured hardwiring a switch that moves the valve controller motor gives me the best of both worlds.

What got me started on this is a buddy of mine - who has a very rich buddy who owns a 911 GT3 RS has them in his car as a factory installed ($2000) from the Porsche factory. I figured I could make the exact same thing for a couple hundred bucks.
