should i clean the TB & MAF when i install my z-tube & pop charger?

my '04 has 38,000 miles on it and it looks the the air filter on there now is pretty dirty (looks like the previous owner hasn't changed it in a while).

I'm going to be putting in a z-tube & POP charger in the next couple weeks, so I figured it might be worth it to clean the TB & MAF while everything is apart.

can you clean the MAF with TB cleaner?

You should clean the TB with TB cleaner and the MAF with MAF cleaner. There are certain chemicals in the MAF cleaner designed not to damage the sensor. You can use brake cleaner to clean the TB.

Be very very careful. A number of people (me included) have thrown high idle codes after cleaning the throttle body. The Idle Air Volume learn wouldn't work for me, and I had to bring it into the dealer to get it reset. Others have had to replace the entire throttle body. Just a warning from the wise. Do a search and you'll find more.

If you do it, try not to push open the butterfly valve with your finger but clean around it on both sides.

i was planning on:

1.) disconnecting the neg terminal
2.) disconnecting the throttle sensor thing
3.) removing the entire TB assy and following the DIY video

i think this should prevent any codes... am i correct?

I did this exact procedure and threw a code. The issue I believe is that when you open the butterfly valve, you could throw it out of it's calibration tolerance. When you execute the Throttle Position relearn procedure, I think it can only reset to within a certain tolerance and if you extend it beyond that, it won't take the new calibration settings.

It seems to be a crap shoot whether you will get this or not. Don't want to scare you away from doing this just make an educated decision and be for warned that this could happen. When I do this again, I simply won't push on the butterfly valve when I clean it. This should make it completely safe.
