Question for those with HKS (rear section)
Q: At what rpm do you start to "hear" your exhaust?
I'm contemplating purchasing this muffler, and have read here that under normal conditions, it's nearly silent. I also understand that under WOT and 5-6K rpm it becomes a beast ;]
I was curious as to what RPM range gave you a: 1. murmur, 2. burble, and 3 roar.
I would prefer the idle to be nearly silent, and as little drone as possible, which is why I'm looking at the HKS, but still want to go "vroom-vroom" when I get it above 4K.
Thanks in advance!!!

when i had mine on, it was noticeable at any rpm including idle. that was before the y pipe and hfcs at which point it became too loud. i thought it sounded great at wot but the low rpms with an auto was a tad annoying in my opinion..

Thanks for the input, guys! The information is incredibly helpful.
So I guess the million dollar question is:
Does it drone at 2.5K RPM on the freeway, 70-75mph cruise?
You mention you could hear it at 2K rpm....which would leave me to believe that it would drone at 2.5K =/ ?
Many Thanks.

Also, if you don't mind me asking, what setup are you running now?
Sorry for being so inquisitive; I merely don't want to make a purchase only to suffer buyer's remorse =)

Right now its just the hfcs and y pipe on with everything else stock. I still have the hks sitting in the garage. I could stand a little more sound soI have considered using a round magnaflow resonator to replace the one in the stock midpipe one as a few members have done but no definite plans of yet. I will mention that I am probably more sensitive to the noise than others. In my previous VQ30, the entire exhaust was aftermarket except the rear section, which worked great for me.
