411 on DC headers

Hey guys and girls
I need comments on DC headers~
I know its made out of ceramic, but what will be the major difference bt nismo and DC headers?
I m pretty sure nismo headers cost alot cause of their name....

Re: 411 on DC headers

They may be the best bang for your buck, but they are still shorty headers, just like the Nismo and Borla. I'm going with the Crawfords due to their length (25-26").

I believe DC makes a Stainless version also.

Re: 411 on DC headers

Borla headers are not just like Nismo headers in term's of tube length. The Nismo's are much closer to being equal length then the Borla's are. You can buy Nismo headers direct from the U.S. company that actually make's them for Nismo, BRM for a lot less. $795. Then you just have to ask yourself if the Crawford is worth $400 more, I think they are thinking in term's of,...I would want the absolute best. But at $795 the BRM (Nismo) headers are a excellent header too.

The Nismo's use 1.625" primary tube stepped up to 1.750" diameter and a collector design that is superior to that of the Borla and Dc Sport unit's. Good headers design is not just about equal length tubing, which is certainly a element that will set headers apart. Crawford makes the best headers short of the Xerd long tube's.

The Dc Sports headers dyno'd 14hp "with" a Dc Sports truedual exhaust in Super Street magazine. Nismo headers alone made 11.6hp and 18.5lbs on a independent dyno.

Re: 411 on DC headers

Really?... that's a nice torque gain. Yuichi did his own testing with the Nismo headers - he got 9hp more (not sure about torque). Thought I will throw it in there....

Crawford IS the absolutely best pair of shorty headers... But Nismo/BRM is also an excellent choice. Whatever you do, stay away from Borla and DC - niether are equal length. DC's claims and to this day no published dynos are a real turn off. Also, Borla on independent tests, shown between 0-4 hp!

Re: 411 on DC headers

Hey Gsedan, those links are good reads. Did you read the part about stainless steel vs. mild steel in the first link? I wonder if the exhaust coating they referred to in that article includes powder coating and if the VQ's in our cars are capable of burning off the powder coat and causing rust in headers as mentioned there. So my question is are the crawford headers and cats made out of stainless steel or powder coated mild steel? Also would that stainless steel vs. mild steel theory apply to the catalytic converters also? Thanks for the interesting read, btw.

Re: 411 on DC headers

The Crawfords are stainless steel and then he powdercoats them, but they are not ceramic coated.

Re: 411 on DC headers

i've read they are equal length too. Thats a good hp increase. What about tq? How is the power delivered in the power band?

Re: 411 on DC headers

hey zip, good quality stainless steel will not rust. Only the cheap kind rust. Look for T304, thats aircraft quality. Thats the kind used by Nismo and Borla. But Borla headers aren't equal length though.

Re: 411 on DC headers

i am very impressed with them so far... they are beautiful headers and very low price...

the thickness of the piping is well.. not very thick compared to the other headers (NISMO / STILLEN)... the diamater of the piping is slightly smaller then stillens... (NISMO largest - then stillen smaller - dc smaller - borla smaller)

They are equal length headers which are better for NA cars... (Super charged cars doesnt mater as much)...

I am puttingaset of the ceramic coated on my car as soon as i get my car back from the body shop...

if you live in an envrionment free of salt in the air.. go with the ceramic andsave a few bucks...

but if you are concerned about longetivity of the header and for them not to rust or currode... go with the stainless steel...

they are both shipping...

Re: 411 on DC headers

So you guys think that crawford is the absolutely best header got g35? In my opinion...if you wanna mod your car...must go for the best, because if you really wanna save $$$ just stay with the factory one
