Total Noob here...
Been thinking about modding the G now... Probably i/h/e, nothing too crazy.
Now, i've been lurking around the threads and other FS sections for a catback, and judging by the looks of the pictures, are these exhausts all bolt-ons? I don't get it... shouldn't there be any welding or anything in the process of installation?
And whats exactly is a Y-pipe? Do catbacks not come with one? Only reason I ask is because a seller is saying he has a Y-pipe with the catback... no idea whats going on.
DOMO... noob dance!

just to help you out further I suggest these
get an intake, stillen + z-tube is good.
skip headers as with out a tune they're not worth the hassel of the install or the expense you'll pay to install them. High flow cats are nice, but still benefit from a tune but will give you header like performance and are easier to install than headers, cost about same as headers too.
-exhaust, 2 ways pretty much, you can go true dual design which will be a complete exhaust system from the cats back (HKS/XO2, Stillen, Borla, Fast Intentions, Injen). The other method is y-back with a y-pipe replacement. The y-pipe is behind the cats, it merges the cat pipes into a single exhaust pipe and then usually back to two tips like stock, so if you buy a y-pipe back exhaust it will tap into the stock y-pipe which is pretty restrictive. You can find replacement y-pipes from $150-$500 take your pick its your money (Tanabe, TopSpeed, Greddy, Nismo, Magnaflow and many more).
Most true duals will be around $900-$1500 (X02 is $400ish)
Most y-backs will be $500-$900, but they do not include the y-pipe usually so add another $200 or so for a y-pipe if you want to go that route.
Generally most people go with an air intake kit, intake plenum spacer (Motordyne or AAM are popular) and an exhaust for their first mods so you're on the right path. The cost of an air intake plus spacer will run you almost as much as some y-pipe back exhaust systems so plan accordingly.
all of these parts are bolt-ons and generally come with good directions to make it easy. Headers are not for beginners and even HFC's can be a little tough for a beginner.
Good luck and welcome!

Hm... Thanks for the tip guys. I was browsing around the FS threads and ran across this:
https://g35driver.com/forums/exhaust...st-fuji-y.html
Sounds like a good deal, but what do I know... Anything I should look out for?
Seller also mentions: "except pipe was cut to remove"... I thought this was a bolt-on.. Why should any pipes be cut?
Again, thanks for the tips!

Ok let's start from here....
Here is 350z's under, muffler is not in picture but right side is front of car, and left side is rear.

Here is true dual exhaust system pictures. ( cat back system, no y-pipe )

It's all bolts on, but some has diff piping size.
Here is pic of header/tp/HKS true dual exhaust system

Edit: Many of people new to 350z or Gs, they confuse with Y-pipe back or cat back and single exhaust or single exhaust with dual tips, for example: JIC single exhaust and nismo single but two muffler tips. They both them are single exhaust but diff muffler designed.
