Exhaust, Decisions Decisions

Right now i ahve the HKS+COupe middy combo.

I have the opportunity though to get a full Borla catback.

If i dont get the Borla, then i was going to buy a set of HKCs.

Which would be the loudest/best performing setup?

What the heck is a HKC? I'm thinking HFC but K and F are awfully far apart to be a typo.

Have you checked out the Aftermarket Sedan Compliation thread, there are some good comparion vids in there? I think that the Stillen Gen 1 exhaust is one of the loudest options and offers good gains.

Too bad you're not a little closer, wouldn't mind scooping your OEM middy off ya, give my 03 a bit more growl.

HFC's on the 35 only add about 1hp. They do add IMO about 20% more volume and some drone.

on my car HFC gave notable trq when a/f was adjusted – peak hp? I don’t know, I wouldn’t do HFC for top end hp – I was after trq and they did it.... as for sound, slightly deeper tone but not that noticeable to me (I have gen 1 Stillen though which is already loud and aggressive)...

Just got the car back today from cam & header install... headers add quite a bit deeper tone.

Sorry Mike, I did not go into other details like I should have. You are right, HFC's can provide a bit better gains with a proper tune.

A typical bolt-on like he is talking about won't give much. I didn't notice anything when I tried a set back in the day.

How hard of an install is HFCs?

And headers, do you have to get tuned for those or can you just use them as a bolt on? And how much are headers? Latly i want to do more performance mods haha

I wouldn’t suggest you deal with headers at this time... HFC aren’t hard to install, and if you don’t want to do them yourself, a shop should be reasonably priced - but I highly advise tune afterwards...
