Z-Tube or Not to Z-Tube - Opinions Wanted...

I am considering swapping stock to Z-tube, I am going to keep the stock airbox due to many posts I've read here and over at freshalloy. I do not want an oil-based filter due to potential MAF issues (I had a MAF issue with a K&N on my old explorer).

I would like to hear your comments pro or con z-tube. Is it worth it or shall I just stick to stock? Is the sound difference noticeable and if so is it worth it just for that?

I read that post this morning. Your result is what is pushing me towards doing it. Thanks for the reply.

Z-tube is ounce for ounce and dollar for dollar the best mod you can do for your car. Although you will probably not notice the performance gain in the seat of your pants, it is there. Plus the sounds it generates are awesome when you rev past 4k rpm.

just make sure you insulate your A/C line before installing or you'll regret the intake install. There's a big a$$ thread about it at the beginning of this forum.

? If anything the Z tube will give the AC line more room.

if you use the stock air box then you don't have to worry about the ac line clearance, there is a lot of room. it's only the aftermarket filters that seem to cause a problem.

I also have to vote yes on the Z-tube. No AC line problems and the growl is great. Also, try removing the resonator under the stock airbox.

Re: Z-Tube or Not to Z-Tube - Opinions Wanted...

Thumbs up on the Z-Tube. I also wanted to avoid the CAI's that are out there. I did the Z-tube and added a K&N drop in filter in the stock air box. The sound alone is worth doing the mod. I'm sure there is a little power there too.

Definately do it.

You won't notice any performance gains (other than phychological). Lets face it, 1 or 2 hp is not going to make a difference. Sounds awsome though!!!

Not according to this thread:

https://g35driver.com/forums/showfla...&part=all&vc=1

its anybody who has a Z-tube however it tends to affect PC-tube users more.
