Re: K&N Drop in Users....

Please be ETHICAL and let the next owner know you used a non oem filter [or any mods] on your car if you remove prior to resale. That way they can decide if they want to accept any extra top ring wear that might have been caused.

Poor people have enough problems buying used cars.

Re: K&N Drop in Users....

check my spelling Q45 Tech please, but caveat emptor, correct?

that is why I buy my performance cars new.

This G will be a wonderful car even with a loose engine and a little blow by.

Re: K&N Drop in Users....

would the stillen airbox and z-tube combo be safe also (from damaging the A/C line)?

Re: K&N Drop in Users....

not sure about the stillen but it should have plenty of clearance since the stock air box is configured similarly

Re: K&N Drop in Users....

It was too close for my comfort so I put some plastic casing around the A/C line. For $1 I sleep better at night.

Re: K&N Drop in Users....

K/N got its start making filters for off-road use in the most demanding environments. Oiled elements are the norm for motorcycles/ATV's operating in dust/grit. K/N is the best choice, but I dont agree they can go 30-50K miles between service either. I clean and re-oil mine every 7500K at the oil change interval.

Re: K&N Drop in Users....

Yeah I'm going to start worrying about "top ring wear" but only after the rebuild from having an underdrive crank pulley cause my engine fly apart! And then my Z tube may be a problem as I hear cars are actually taking flight from all the extra power!

Be ethical tho and everyone be sure to disclose any instances of G flight time approved or not by the FAA to any potential buyer.

Yes, the Stillen plus Z tube is safe. I have it and there is
plenty of room for the A/C line.

Re: K&N Drop in Users....

My reason for Z tube plus KN in a modified stock airbox is because my plan is to go Crawford plenum. Doug at Crawford (and a few guys here) have noted a possible loss of hp/ torque on systems running JWT's or CAI's with the Crawford due to knock sensors chopping timing with things running that lean... he figures the stock airbox fixes that problem nicely.

Ximer, I think the stock airbox secures the Z-tube away from the AC line better than the long metal bracket that the popcharger uses -- which needs to be bent (or actually straightened) for max clearance.

Re: K&N Drop in Users....

I actually removed my Stillen HFAB last weekend to clean
the Conical filter. I reinstalled the stock air box on the Ztube
and put the old K&N filter in it. It seems to be peppier in the
lower rpms than with the Stillen, but I sure do miss the
sound above 4000 rpm. I think I will keep the current setup for
awhile.
