Crawford Plenum Disappontment

Well I have installed a Crawford plenum earlier this week, The install went smoothly, except I doubled the gaskets.

Problem is: I went to the track to chart the changes and to my dismay the car was a good 2/10's slower. I expected 2/10's faster. The only setup change was the plenum and a 04 TCM update. The TCM update made things noticeably better. Has anyone expereinced poorer performance by adding the plenum or am I missing something, My conclusion is that I run an Injen CAI and a lot of people are running a popcharger/Ztube with the plenum. I would assume that the MAF sensor reads more air from the short pipe thus telling the ecu more fuel taking better advantage of the plenum since it is down stream from the MAF. My CAI may not be getting the needed air into the throttle body/plenum. Did you guys do a throttle position sensor reset when you installed the plenum. I'm so disappointed I want to send it back instead of my core right now. Please help.

I'm also thinking of adding a side scoop to my aero kit, kind of like this.

gspot35,

What were the differences in ambient conditions?

What was the difference in in the track's surface temperature?

Being that you have an auto did you do a computer reset? That should help.

Re: Crawford Plenum Disappontment

Thanks to smcallis for the advice. I talked with Doug today and pretty much got the same response. I think I'll try to add my stock airbox with my injen tube back into the car and try it out again. I'm waiting on my buddy who has a speed lab to contact Technosquare about being a dealer. After that I'll tune the car myself with his help.

Re: Crawford Plenum Disappontment

RugRat, Your ride is nice. So all in all I gather the CAI and the plenum are a good combo, just need to be dialed in. I'm wondering if I just change my injectors if that would full the ecu into thinking it's injecting x amount when it's really injecting y amount. Anyone know what the stock ccm's are?

gspot35 Thanks man...yea I've wondered that myself if you could fool the ECU with larger injectors.
You got a sweet looking G35S, I like the Color & your front Aero bumper...

Re: Crawford Plenum Disappontment

Question, How do you "tune" the TS ECU reflash? You can't change the ECU settings can you?

301-bhp!!! ...and growing!

Re: Crawford Plenum Disappontment

No, once you get the Technosquare ECU upgrade, you can send it back to T.S. for a small fee (not sure I've heard $50-75.00) for a reflash to include parameters for your newest mods...
