Z-Tube?

Okay so As the days pass I realize my chances of finding a Fast Intentions exhaust (used) by christmas are slim to none so Ive begun looking at smaller things like an injen intake but I hear alot about this is not the way to go, rather a ztube and a popcharger can someone please explain?

Thanks Phil

Most here, me included have tried various CAIs. Most have lost power and gained little except for more intake "growl".

Best bang seems to be the Z-tube. Only CAI that has had consistently reasonable reviews has been the Stillen. I've heard many that lost power with the Pop-Charger, but it's good for looks and sound.

go z tube & drop in K&N filter. for $100 you get a mild intake mod and a filter that lasts forever.

Z-tube is A LOT less restrictive than the stock tube. The pop-charger is a cone filter with a shield to help feed air into it. I had the K&N drop-in first then upgraded to the pop-charger. Love the sound so I kept it. Performance differences are not noticeable IMO.

You need the z-tube. You gotta get ride of the stock intake pipe. I have a z-tube on my G with a k&n drop in. Same setup I had on my last G also... I love it. the sound is just enough for a nice tone.

I have a fully-polished SS Fast Intentions exhaust, with the Ti tips, that will most likely be going up for sale this weekend in So Cal. Let me know if you'd be interested.

Not really... the stock G-tube just has sound bafflers...

OP get the z-tube/pop charger set up cheap and sounds great as for power i didnt feel a gain or a loss.

+1 for z-tube/K&N combo.

Not a fan of popcharger. I think that heatsheild is ineffective and you would still be sucking warm air.

on another note, had my fast intentions exhaust installed yesterday. It's swell.

^ +1. yep, that's the general consensus regarding the popchargers. sure they may sound cool, but performance suffers. the oem intake ahead of the airbox is actually very efficient.

What's the easiest way to get ahold of a Z-tube? Just go to Stillen's website and order one? Is there a difference in quality between manufacturers? Or, would looking for a used one of a "Z" be just as good? If a used "Z" tube is just as good, what's the easiest way to get one?

^ of course the oem tube out of a Z would be just as good. that's the Z tube that everyone talks about. i got mine on everythingg35.com, but you can check the marketplace for used ones.

Thank you for a sensable reply canucklehead. It's much appreciated. I've searched and searched eurodre, by the way, and I thought this was an appropriate question for the thread.
