Reducing Drone

Hey guys, I have the Top Speed Pro N1 Exhaust, Megan Racing V2 Test Pipes, and the Motordyne XYZ Pipe w/Straight Pipe Module. I'm looking to get rid of some of the drone without losing too much of my exhaust's "character". I mean at WOT, it's simply a monster -- but I'd like it to be a little quieter when I'm just cruising around.

What are the best ways to go about doing this? I know I can go with resonators, silencers, sound deadening. But do resonators/silencers affect performance? The sound deadening can add a few lbs, but if it's effective I don't mind.

What about going with the HFC module or Resonator module for my XYZ pipe? I've been contemplating getting the HFC module to get rid of the emissions smells. If it happens to reduce my drone a bit, that would be a huge plus.

The resonator of the XYZ is primarily to reduce rasp but depending on the system dynamics and interaction, it may slightly increase or reduce drone. But not enough to be very significant.

OTOH adding a larger resonator in the midpipe will have a more substantial effect.

Do you have links to pics of the N1?

hey coup de grace would you mind taking an incar video of the drone with your topspeed exhaust? I have really been contemplating this system and was wondering just how bad the drone was.

Sure, but not sure how well my camera will capture the sound. I might be able to get one up tonight, I'm about to go out for a drive.

You could experiment on the midpipe... but it would take time and $$$.

You could start by removing the resonators entirely. It will certainly be brighter, but there is a chance it could cut the drone.

You won't know until you try.

Hey Xet, sent you a PM.

Tony, sounds like I would be better off selling this exhaust and buying a different one. :/
