hey guys, does sound deadening really help in reducing drone? if yes where should i put it in my car?

 

I did my whole trunk and still have a lot of drone but I also have a extreme exhaust. I have not done the back seat or floor area yet.

 

well i dont really wanna do my whole car. its just too much weight. what parts do you think would be the most important for drone purposes.

 

Unfortunately, sealing the inside of the car won't help the drone problems. The drone is largely a factor vibration as much as it sound. Everything I've read on this site about using sound deadening to cure drone points to a very marginal reduction and a big expense.

 

It helps some but its not a fix.

 

Why they make audio spectrum analysers [free software] and SPL meters [Radioshack]. Once you visualize the sound spectrum and each octave's intensity, then you can analyse the attenuation of various sound deadening products [from published specifications] and select how many feet thick you need.

Most laptops internal sound card [with better external microhone] can be used with the following software to record sound, analyse it and study the forms of a partial solution.
