Yep very easy. Just go get a vacuum gauge at autozone for like 10 bucks. On the side of the plenum is a little access port that is normally covered by a rubber cover. Just remove it, and attach the vacuum gauge. Start the car and you should see the vacuum gauge go all the way down to -20. Start revving the car and you should see it go up and then return all the way back down. Sure fire way to get for intake leaks.

Bingo! I have the MityVac which allows me to check vacuum and also bleed brakes, apply vacuum to sensors, etc. It's well worth the $20. Vacuum gauges are probably the best dianostic tools you can buy next to a Consult unit.

A warmed up VQ at close to sea level (within 1500') with no vacuum leaks should have a rock steady vacuum of 20 to 21hg. On the VQ35DE, the vacuum port to use is the nipple on the front passenger side of the upper intake plenum cover. If you're vacuum is bouncing or is 19hg or below, you've got a small leak somewhere and/or a valvetrain problem. Almost always it's a leak though.

You also can try to initiate the IAVL (Idle Air Volume Learn) proceedure. If you installed a spacer, intake or removed the throttle body the calibration might be messed up. Just search for it on here, there are a ba jillion posts about it.

I installed a spacer, and now I can't get it to idle properly. I went through the entire reset process, all 4 steps. When I do the Idle Air Volume Learn, the idle drops to normal, but when I turn the car off and back on, its back to high idle. If I do the learning again, it'll idle fine, but once I power cycle, its back to high idle. Any thoughts? Maybe a vacuum leak??

Thanks

I had exactly the same problem. The deal had to initiate something called a Master Reset on the ECU?? They didn't replace any parts but it fixed it. I also see something called that on my autoenginuity so I'm assuming it's legit.
