Question about "muffler delete"

So i saw someone on here did a muffler delete and i wanted to try it for myself. So today i tried something close to it. I unbolted my muffler, and put washers about 3/4 and inch on the bolts, then bolted everything abck together. So there was about a 3/4 inch gap between my muffler and mid pipe. It actualy sounded very good at lower rpms, but once i get on it, it sounded very raspy. Ended up putting it back to normal for now, and if i ever wanna might go abck to it haha

Is there anything wrong with doing this? Can it hurt my car at all?

BTW i have an 04 X with a coupe mid and Hr y pipe.

Thanks everyone and yes i did put it back to normal lol
