Wait, so is it inflating because there is too much backpressure/ not enough flow though the y pipe and the muffler? because the flow from the test pipe is too much? Do you think that if we increased flow it would reduce the problem?

Good luck, I hate this sound. so it' is from the vibrating? is it hitting anything, I'm getting it both when i accelerate and just letting the revs fall.

i think i found the problem through a whole bunch of reading and research, for the 2nd gen anyways.

this seems to be the problem, the ball mesh thing

I haven't heard anyone having this problem with a cat back even with HFCs, and looking at pics of all the cat backs, none of them have this ball think there.

What is this thing, what does it do? What happens if I cut my cars metal mesh ***** off?

yea same here but im assuming is that ....that thing expands and the the heat shield thats next to it starts too vibrate like crazy causing that rattling like noise...i think,,...even if i buy a aftermarket y pipe they still have that metal mesh crap...on it sooo it has to be that heat shield

I was wondering if I can just cut it off and put in a straight pipe. For the 2nd get all the aftermarket cat backs don't have it.

Can we just cut it off? I mean no one has given me a solid answer of what that thing does, everyone is like it flexs, it expands, but what for? what happens if we get rid of it?

I found out what it's for

Stainless Steel Flex-Joints minimize chances of cracked manifolds or headers. Flex joints isolate vibration and save exhaust parts and gaskets by allowing movement in all direction

so i guess it's better to keep it on, now I just need to figure out if i can take off the heat shields.
