04 G35 Coupe 6MT Changed filter now top feels a little flat

Hey everyone, my first post here. New to this forum, but not new to forums in general, not at all.

Anyway, I've have an 04 G35 Coupe 6MT just like in the title (the one with the OEM Brembo's), and I've got a few mods. The ones to the engine include:

Injen CAI
Lightweight Pulleys
Stillen Engine Damper Mount (don't see how this will effect how the engine runs, rather just drivetrain loss).

Anyway, it was a pain to pull off the bumper everytime to change the air filter on the Injen Intake, and a few times I even lazy'd it and just kind of forced it through, but either way the filter was old, crushed, and a general pain to clean just because it was so annoying to take out.

So I replaced it with a longer, but narrower (and therefore one that easily slips in and out without taking off the bumper) K&N filter. I cut the intake tube about 2 inches to compensate for the extra length (it wouldn't fit otherwise).

Now, after doing this the engine runs WORLDS smoother. Power from 2500 to 4000 is just so great I can't stop running it there and its been killing my fuel mileage.

However, I do have a small feeling that I lost some top end. I don't see how this is really possible since its more air flow in the end. If anything, I felt it should increase.

Is it just because the midrange has become so much more robust so it makes the top end feel less powerful?

The car has been well taken care of mechanically. Full Synthetic Oil changed every 4000 miles or so. All major services at the dealer. Car has 56K on it.

Thanks for your input guys.
