Help! MREV2, 5/16 Spacer, FI HFC = loss of power

I had a Motordyne MREV2 and Motordyne 5/16 spacer laying around from my old 2006 g35 6MT that I never installed. I don't have the 06 anymore.

This weekend I decided to have them installed them in my 2004 5AT. Along with the MREV2 and Spacer I had the Fast Intentions HFC's I just bought installed.

Before the install I had an Injen CAI and Injen SES dual exhaust.

With just the exhaust and intake I felt nice power. When I hit the gas I got instant acceleration, a nice jerk and the car took off well. Passed well on those two lane roads.

When I added the MREV2 and 5/16 Spacer and HFC, the car sounded way louder like it had more power, but now it feels sluggish on passing. Instead of jerking and taking off, the increase slow and steady, making passing much slower.

What do I need to do to get my instant acceleration back? What do you guys think happend to make me loose power?

Please help me out

You need to get the car tuned.

lol, gaurantee they didnt tune it. Unless you bought a separate module for tuning (ex: utec) or you had it tuned with osiris, it didnt get tuned.

They could have reset the ECU, but that wont "tune" your car.

I've done countless dynos on the spacer and MREV setups and they never lose power.

OTOH, I've never pre/post dynod high flow cats. ...but I have dynod test pipes plenty of times.

What I have seen from test pipes is that they do lose low RPM TQ but make good gains everywhere else.

Some people really notice the low RPM TQ loss. Some don't.
I can feel it but it doesn't bother me because I have a 6MT and I usually keep the RPM's out of that range unless I'm just cruising.

If you have an auto, it may be more of an issue.

But as far as HFC's... I don't know, but they are probably more similar to test pipes.

So it is possible this may be what you are feeling.

If not, there may be something else going on. But more information would be needed to diagnose the problem.

When you bought the cats were they new?

You just opened up your exhaust and lost some backpressure... it doesn't "feel" faster but I'm willing to bet that if you put it on a dyno, you're making more power.

And if they did properly tune it, then you should have dyno numbers from before and after to show they did something.

Yes. Not nearly as much as it does on a REVUP engine, but it does.

Below is a comparison of Stock Vs Spacer Vs MREV2 Vs Spacer with MREV2. All of this testing was performed on a 2004 G35 Sedan with the non-revup engine.

That why I decided to install it b/c of the test from the 2004 G35 Sedan. The Installer didn't tune it they they did a "tune up" and just reset the ECU. I have an apointment for a Osiris tune in a couple of weeks. Hopefully that helps. Thanks everyone for your imput!

The Osiris tune will make a huge difference. It will tie together all your mods and tweak the engine for max performance.

Let us know what you see after the tune. I think you'll be very happy.
