Re: UnlimitedTuning Y-Pipe

what is the diameter of the exit end on these Y-Pipes?
will they mount to stock muffler? or which aftermarket exhausts will they mount to?
ie. Fujitsubo, Nismo, Greddy SP2 etc?

Re: UnlimitedTuning Y-Pipe

The Kinetix, Unlimited Racing and NFC Y-pipes are all 65mm at the collector flange (same as oem).

The Jic and futjsubo are 76.3mm at the collector flange.

All will mate up to all make's of systems down stream. But, it would not be wise to bolt up a 76.3mm output to a 65mm mid pipe downstream as you create a 1/4" high ring that abruptly interupts flow, especially important since exhaust gases tend to huge the tubing walls as they travel down the piping. A simple $20 transistion tube could be welded in to smoothly go from 76.3mm down to 65mm, to avoid a mismatch.

Re: UnlimitedTuning Y-Pipe

...Or a fujitsubo exhaust would compliment the JIC Y-Pipe nicely instead of a transition tube

Re: UnlimitedTuning Y-Pipe

I really like the Fujitsubo exhuast for the sedan, but it is only 70mm. How well does it mate to the y-pipes?

I also like the Fujitsubo and JIC Y-pipes (the Ultimate is nice also), but someone needs to make a full 76mm y-pipe back exhuast to go with it....

Re: UnlimitedTuning Y-Pipe

Hello all G35 owners,

We are very happy and surprised to see this post. The Y-Pipe Prototype we have for the 350Z will fit the G35 as well. We have installed the actual item on a 350Z and put it on the Dynojet Machine, please refer to our post under My350Z.com for details. We will also do the same for G35 and get back to you guys with the results ASAP. Please feel free to contact us with your questions or comments. Thank you.

Re: UnlimitedTuning Y-Pipe

Sorry, but 31 ft pds of torque and/or 15 HP at the wheels is utterly ridiculous from a Y pipe. It makes me really question your technique on the dyno.

It's a nice looking Y pipe but even if you showed 5 HP gains from a Y pipe alone I'd be suprised, but might believe the results. Other systems with similar Y pipes, and less severe bends, are showing 5-6 RWHP for the entire cat back system.

Re: UnlimitedTuning Y-Pipe

What he said.

Frankly, ignor manufacture hp claims and make decisions to buy on the merit of the part in comparison to the oem part it replaces. Since the oem part in question absolutley stinks, things aren't so bad. Providing is is priced sensibly (read less then Jic's $390 street price)

Re: UnlimitedTuning Y-Pipe

We have tried our best to provide as much information as we can on our Y-Pipe. One should analyze NOT only the amount of horsepower gained after the Y-Pipe, but perhaps the amount Torque as well as the Air/Fuel Ratio, which is one of the reason for the great increase. As we mention before we will run the same test on the G35 and share the results. We have also provided the Dyno Facility's information if anyone wants to verify. We try our best to manufacture a Y-Pipe that NOT only looks good, but well made and of course performance improvement. Please feel free to contact us with your questions or comments. Thanks.

Unlimited Tuning

Re: UnlimitedTuning Y-Pipe

limanb, you referenced http://www.japtrix.com/customparts.htm. I can't get anywhere with that link. Are you sure it's valid? I have fairly high browser security settings so that could be the problem but I'm not sure.

I spoke to the local Japtrix shop in S. Florida (is this a nationwide company?) and they told me that they have proven HP increases of 11 HP across the RPM band with the Japtrix Y Pipe and Midpipe. I have also corroborated this with dyno results from folks at the local Z Club in Florida.

If they can get 11 HP proven gains across the powerband from these ~ $500 parts then I want in!

Re: UnlimitedTuning Y-Pipe

How can one y-pipe mid pipe combo gain 11 hp across the board when none of the others can? Does this make any sense? If you completely remove the cat back exhaust (keeping the cats on) do you honestly think you'd gain 11 hp "across the board"? I have my doubts...

neff, take it for what it is. A ridiculous claim by a manufacturer trying to sell a new product. I laugh when I read the fine print "the above numbers may not yield the same results in your vehicle, blah, blah, blah"

You're kidding... It actually says that? For that reason alone I would refuse to purchase that product or any other product made by that company. That's just wrong.

Personally, I like the way JIC and Crawford have dealt with me. JIC told me that they've dynoed their Y-Pipe by itself and with the exhaust. Every dyno run gained between 4 and 7 rwhp on the 350Z. That seems fair and honest. Doug at Crawford dynoes plenums on the 350Z and shows an "average" dyno chart of the gains. He doesn't show the "best" dyno chart he could rig up. Those are 2 businesses who have e-mailed and contacted me via phone and I like that!

Japtrix, schmaptrix...

Re: UnlimitedTuning Y-Pipe

yeah, not sure what happened to the japtrix site. i have the fujitsubo y-pipe and the mufler shop built me a reducer to fit to the stock midpipe. i was looking at the japtrix mid-pipe at first, since it has the same pipe size as the fuji y-pipe. at $225, i decided to just let the mufler guy did it. i definitely love the sound of my mufler now. a little deeper than stock and a litle louder too. just perfect! as far as HP gain....well anything over 200 hp i think is a lot of power, so i dont care too much about what i gained in hp as long as i don't loose any. i don't race every time i drive to work or going home from work anymore. guess sign of old age....lol.
