Air filters

Which one should i get? When i got oil change at infiniti they said they my air filter in engine is dirty and should get replaced. So obviously im not paying them because i can just do it myself. Now im not getting k&n cause i dont care about performance. Is a FRAM one from advanced auto or autozone just as good as the OEM one? Its only $8.99. How long do filters last? I dont think it has been changed yet im almost at 55k.

u should definetly spend the money on an K&N it worth the investment..as for fram or other autozone filters i have no clue about them but i would guess that they would be just like a factory one

Just get a Fram or other paper filter, IF the K&N gave you 2 hp and 1 mpg increase I would be surprised. I have had an Amsoil nano filter and a K&N and there was no difference. I would rather get a new filter than clean an old one.

Maybe just a personal preference, maybe I'm that picky about where my money goes, or maybe I'm just sick of sh*tty parts... but I avoid anything made by Honeywell like the plague. Their oil filters suck and yes, I know we're talking about air filters which are different, but if their quality is bad for one product, would it really be any different for something else?

I run a K&N but if I had it to do over I'd get the Amsoil one -- no oil to mess with.

im not spending $40+ for a filter lol if i had my supercharged mustang still than ya, but i switched over to this car to be more chill and quiet and just drive. i dont put performance mods into this so im prob gonna get a fram one. im sure i will see no difference in anything when new one is in. well i will know i have a clean filter but whatever

JMO but I think it's false economy to pay $12-15 for a Fram every 6-12 months rather than pay $35-40 once in your car's lifetime for a K&N or Amsoil that does a far better job of protecting your engine. Not really a performance part, though from what I hear it might get you 1-2hp, not enough to notice.

if i change this air filter im probably not gonna change it again because the car will be gone by then. if i havent had it replaced and it has 55k miles on it and it went this far, what makes you think im gonna change it in 15k miles?? come on im sure its not REALLY needed to be changed

don't get any oily filter it'll clog up your air sensor and mess things up

I have a fram...took it off at the dyno and got no gain ( I actually lost some power ). I wouldn't waste money on a K&N that might ruin you maf anyways.

thats why its called prevenative maintance

do you wait till your tires are blown to change them?

You have to do some kinda work to your car here and there.

I usually find a saturday morning once a month to do a small maint project.

Oil was last month
this month belts(lots of cracks)
the month after brakes (almost gone might not make it another month)

but if you just wanna run a dirty air filter go for it
