question about intakes

i see this type of intakes on ebay with K&N filter for really cheap price all the time, are they a waste of money or are they worth a try? since i heard that the Z tube with Popcharger is mostly for sound and not much performance is increased, i dont wanna spend too much money if the performance is not really noticeable, thanks in advance, this is the one i saw

There is no heat shield at all so you'll be sucking in hot engine air. You'll lose a lot of HP, but it should sound really aggressive if thats what you are looking for.

Stillen is a good one and gives you a couple HP but sound is the #1 reason to get one.

gah search. no intakes are really proven to make any more power. and you only risk heatsoak or hydrolocking to differing degrees. either do it for the sound, or not at all.

And to "TheTick" what is your idea of tons of hp? that sounds like it should be at least 20hp+ loss because when most people refer to a big gain its usually ~20+ hp. Are you trying to say that a bit of heatsoak is going to cause that much of a power loss?

OEM with a drop in K&N and a Ztube is the best bet. You get extra sound without LOSING power. After four years on here and going through several intakes myself, I now believe that the OEM is stil the best.

Listen to this man! He speaks the truth! In our experience, for a G35, Drop-In, Z tube and a plenum spacer(VQ35DE cars) are the best intake power modifications for the car.

if he learns to search he will get all his answers with more detail, explanation, faster, and without getting harassed. we are helping him in the long run, not just this one question he has.
