Exhaust and intake risk?

Is there any risk involved in putting headers of some brand on, exhaust and intake, besides voiding my warranty and getting my hands dirty, is there any known engine damage as a that has resulted of this?

Search in future, but good news...I'll help ya out here. No real danger other than worse gas milage from stepping on it a lot more because of the new great sound, and a small risk of more speeding tickets. As far as the warranty goes, they have to indefinitely prove that your mods caused the exact issue.

Hey el,

After checking the updated Central Bureau of Statistics report (04/09), I found out there were a rash of engine failures on the 03-06 VQ35DE's from 01/09-04/09 that have inflated your quoted failure rate from 5 cars out of 10 to 6.97 cars out of every 10. Combine exhaust, spacer, intake, and y-pipe mods and the failure rate becomes an alarming 8.222 cars out of 10.

My conclusion from this meticuluosly researched information is that not only should libra stay " G35 Coupe 6MT 100% stock for now" but for all of eternity or run the risk of having massive engine, transmission, and interior failure at 65 MPH. Sorry dude..........

J/K Mods are like beer, you can't have just one!!

Mod

LMFAO ya had me there for a second hehehe, It's just that I saw someone saying they know the risks of putting on cheap headers and I had no idea what that meant because they didn't elaborate on the topic, maybe they would crack prematurely or something no idea.

You'll find out pretty quickly either from experience or searching on this site, that cheap stuff rarely works well on our cars. There are some inexpensive mods, not many, that actually yield some power or other benefit. Take the MD plenum spacer for example. I have the 5/16" basic and bought it on here from a member brand new for ~ $150. Probably gave me 10-12 HP. Motordyne has a great reputation on here as a company that builds excellent products.

If you are looking at an exhaust, I'd look at the MD choices. I like the VQ version a lot, but I probably will never put an aftermarket exhaust on my car. I'm trying to make it as loud as I can with stock parts. I'll have Frankenstein'd the shiet out of it when I'm done.

Search, grasshopper for the knowledge you seek. This board is awesome if you put a little time and effort in looking up what you're interested in. If there are any specific questions you need answers to, feel free to PM me. I've only had my car 2 months, but I have spent a lot of time on here learning about her, so I feel like an oldtimer already.

Peace.....

no its actually safer to mod because the bigger tips make it harder for people to plug up your exhaust w/ potatoes.
