Exhaust Question

Alright, firstly, I've already checked the sound/video clips section but I wanted a more personal response because video/sound quality can't measure exactly how something sounds. I want my '04 to sound as close to the G coupe/FX sound, so I really don't want any aftermarket drone or anything.

It looks like a lot of people put the G coupe midpipe on and that seems to be pretty close, but what are your opinions? Is this the closest I'll get?

Furthermore, for those of you who have the midpipe swap, is there any drone when driving or do you only hear that distinct exhaust note when giving it some gas? Thanks in advance for responses

No drone means not considering anything aftermarket.

I have a coupe mid on my 04X, some drone on the highway, but the music covers most of it...doesn't bother me much. the sound is definitely worth it, wouldn't trade it for anything.

Even the stock setup drones slightly. I notice it

I have had both just the coupe middy on as well as the coupe middy paired with the HKS exhaust. The combo (middy and HKS) sounds AMAZING and perfect. Never had any drone and found it to sound as close to the coupe as it could get. Now, I sold the HKS and have just the coupe middy on. No drone as well and still sounds good. But it doesn't sound like a coupe/fx.

g35freak86, which sounds better? The HKS and coupe mid, or the stock and coupe mid? Also, is there any performance difference that you noticed in the swaps. I'm looking at the HKS as well, but don't want something loud and obnoxious like tin can Civic done wrong.

IMO, Coupe Mid and HKS sounds so much better than Stock Muffler and Coupe Mid.

Yeah, that's what I'm hearing. I'm meeting a guy tomorrow that has an HKS for sale with the mid pipe. Can't wait to hear it.

Sorry to hijack thread, but what would be a good choice for me if I have a Greddy catback and I want a louder sound? Would a y-pipe do the trick? Would it fit on to the flange of the Greddy? Thanks.

^Hi flow cats or test pipes but becareful cause you also might pickup some rasp along with either one of those. Especially the test pipes.

+1 or +2 or whatever the count is on coupe middy with HKS rear...then add a HR Y-pipe and call it a nice clean sounding exhaust

HKS and coupe middy sounds way better. I miss having the HKS everytime I drive the car (which is everyday). The hks and middy doesn't sound anything remotely close to a fart can civic exhaust. It sounds deep and exotic. I loved it every second I had it. I was planning on adding an HR Y-pipe to the mix, but never got around to picking one up.

If you're wondering. I got rid of it because I'm selling the car. Not because I didn't like it.

Question. I'm thinking of getting the Coupe mid as well. I have an 04X, what year coupes will fit my 04?
