350z Hr y pipe Vs G37 Hr y pipe
+1
Just installed HR Y pipe of 350z friday. Paid $80 shipped from ebay (they guy had 3 set of 350z exhaust, and he was willing to part out)
Anyway, i measured it, the inner diameter on the cat side is 2", and the inner diameter from the exit side is very close to 2.5", however the mid pipe on my G35 coupe seems to be slightly smaller than the y pipe. Can anybody else confirm this?
I did not notice any performance increase that day (low end torque or crisper throttle), but as far as the sound, it's deeper. Today, I star noticing the difference. The rpm seems to climb faster down low, and the throttle response is crisper. Should i reset the ecu?

If you want to learn everything there is to know and then some about this question, I double dare you to read all 35 pages in this thread.

Fortunately or unfortunately depending on how you look at it I have.
You didn't let us know what car you are rollin' in, but for my 05 sedan, what I can tell you is either of these options are MUCH better than my stock pipe. Better throttle response and deeper growl are the 2 biggest benefits that are noticeable almost right away.
I bought 3 y-pipes from the local Infiniti dealer and paid $60 total!!! So I have to say $100 is expensive to me, but what you were quoted seems pretty normal or even a little lower than a lot of these pipes are selling for on here. Of the three I bought 2 were alike and one was different. The one I kept was off of an 07 G I believe, but who really knows. You can search through the last 3rd of the thread to find my pics and discussions.

Well did you read what Dave said about the difference on the first page. Go measure the inlets and stuff tell us if they fit his requirements of what they should be that would solve this whole question.
Sorry for posting so late but I did install the Y pipe and it cut down at least 80% of the rasp. I'm completely happy with it and it's been on my car for 6 months now. It was well worth the money ($100 shipped)
Thanks
Thanks
i have an 04 6mt coupe.... What hr pipe should i go with???
Someone wiser than myself can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the general understanding is that the g37 is a no-go because the inner diameter of the downtubes are smaller (1.7" v. 2.0") than the hr-350z y-pipe. If you look at the research that Motordyne has done when developing their XYZ pipe, there is evidence that smaller downtubes would hinder power production.
Now, that being said the design/shape of the g37 pipe seems to be the same, so if you could get a hold of it beforehand and verify the I.D. at the downtubes and outlet...

^so do I.... Did you ever find out the answer to this? I know I could just not be lazy and do a search.... but cut me some slack this time
thanks

This guys got a grasp on it, we just need someone to verify if the G37 HR Y-Pipe actually has a smaller inner diameter (1.7" someone mentioned) or if it has the same diameter of the 350Z HR Y-Pipe which has been confirmed at a 2.0" inner diameter. They both look the same, but looks can be deceiving. Thus, we need someone with a G37 HR Y-Pipe to measure the inner diameter of their downtubes and outlet to confirm.
See post #593 https://g35driver.com/forums/intake-...03-g35-12.html
The measured outlet of the G37 pipe is 1.75". The HR is a crack over 2". It's a pretty obvious difference in the attached picture.
First Gen Sedans and 03-07 G35 coupes need 07-08 350z HR Y-Pipes. Although the g37 HR pipe has similar shape the actual pipe diameters are smaller. But couple people have added the G37 HR pipe and noticed a difference.
But the one you really want is the 350z HR Ypipe. It has the gradual bend in the arms and the slight larger Diameter is the pipes. This will allow slight improvement in sound and performance. But like all bolt-ons, these are small gains. Nothing Night or day.
